Does it disturb you when......

you sell items at ebay, especially the high price items, and you send initial invoice followed by the 3 day invoice, and still, no reply from the buyer?......Is it just me being impatient? I mean like, courtesy should be met with courtesy...right?......image

Razor: Since I don't sell on E-Bay (and pretty much have stopped buying on it -- too high maintenance for me) I can't comment representing the sell side, other than to say that if I were you, it would bother me for the buyer not to have the courtesy to reply promptly.

Depends. I'm fairly patient with bidders -- most of them pay quickly, and the ones that don't I just wait around for. As long it's not a super high dollar item with the rent coming due, it's not that big of a deal.

Yeah, it's annoying, but personally I think 3 days is too soon for a second notice. I give 7 days before first followup - and it's a personal note, not the eBay canned reminder. If no answer, another reminder at 10 days. If no answer, relist at 14 days.

Disturbing may not be the correct term. Disappointing? Curious? Anxious? They may fit better. image

The check will probably arrive without so much as an email peep. That is of course if you sent off an invoice with all the payment instructions.

Then again, you could get a response similar to one I recently received from a bidder...........Sorry for the delay (2 weeks, and as a matter of fact, still no check) but with two kids, things are a bit tight after the holidays.
My reply was something to the effect of "I have four kids, and understand completely about things being "tight" after the holidays, that's why I don't bid on something I can't afford." I recommended he forward a check, even postdated, otherwise I'll just end this whole shenanigan, and he said he would be sending the check......................

I find that I am in a disturbed state, even on the best of days.image
There once was a place called
    Camelotimage
  • When buying or selling I list my intent almost right away. Even when buying, I sometimes do all my internet finance on Friday's so if I "win" a coin on a Monday I let the seller know that Friday will be the day funds are sent and I follow up at that point as well

I'll tell ya what disturbs me....well...one of the things at least....ehem... Anyway, it's when you spend a lot of time taking nice clear pictures making them just right only to have some Schmola with no pictures have higher bids on the same item! That really rips me bum! I like when you don't hear anything from the winning bidder for days and days and then out of the blue a check shows up. I just had a guy stiff me on a pocket watch after weeks of waiting for payment. Each time I emailed him I'd get " the payment is in the mail." Well, it shouldn't take almost 20 days for a letter to go from WI to NH. So now I sent a second chance...odds are the watch will be relisted. BLAST, BLAST them all to the 12th ring of hell!!!....okay, I'm done nowimage

    edited for being disturbed
  • I just think it's out and out RUDE they can't reply to emails. They sure as hell took the time to keep their eyes pasted on the auction in order to win it. They take the time to email you to find out what the reserve is on a particular item. Common courtesy...some people just completly lack it...image

Yes, it really bugs me when I get no response from a buyer or a seller for that matter. I found a way to get a reply within three days and it has worked very well so far- I let them know that I will be calling them on the telephone if I don't hear from them in three days because I must assume my emails are not getting through to them. I have not had to make a phone call yet image. mike
  • Yes, it is very irritating. image

As a Buyer, I always contact them within the 3 day period. I think that is stated in the eBay ''rules'' some place that this is required. As a seller, I always follow up with a 'personal' email if I don't hear from them, stating that eBay rules state:

I won an auction yesterday, and it said in the email:
You may also contact the seller via email to complete the sale at blahblahemail.com
*** If contacting the seller directly, please do so within 3 business days.***
You should send payment directly to the seller.

I hate that too. I send the initial invoice, then the 3 day invoice, then I wait 7 business days for something to come in the mail.

Great transactions with oih82w8, JasonGaming, Moose1913.

Your auction listing sends an automatic canned eBay invoice demanding payment but you want a courteous personal reply?
Me mailing the check is the same courtesy returned.
Change that we can believe in is that change which is 90% silver.

    Dog;
I guess you ignore the 3 day contact info.. How long will you wait to be recipiant of/ render payment to the respective parties?

When eBay or PayPal sends your automatic invoice with the payment details to me that was the contact. I can't even reply to that because the "FROM:" address is "aw-confirm@ebay.com" or "service @paypal.com."
If you take the time to send me a personal email from twotimetom@comcast.net telling me I won your auction and send you $50 or whatever then I click "REPLY" and send you an email with my mailing address saying "Hi Tom. Will send payment asap. Regards, Dog."
Then after I get whatever I bought from you I find your email and click "RELPY" again and say "Hi Tom. Got it. Like it. Left feedback. Nice dealing with you. Regards, Dog."

If I'm the recipient of payment and I don't get paid in a week or 2 then I send the buyer a copy of the initial invoice that Paypal sent them.
If I'm rendering payment I'll send a PayPal within 24 hours, a check might take me 2 or 3 days to get around to writing & mailing and if the seller takes money orders only then I may take longer because I work out of town in the construction biz and it might take 4 or 5 days until I get by my bank to get the cash to take to the Post Office by 4:30 pm to purchase the money order.
Sellers that are so lazy & hate eBay so much they depend on automatic canned messages and won't even send me an email I can reply to when I owe them my hard earned $$ but expect me to go out of my way to kiss their ass is hardly courtesy in my opinion.
I'm lazy & use automatic PayPal notifications too, but I don't expect anything more from my buyers other than a check in my mailbox in a week or 2 or an email from PayPal saying "You've got cash!"
I'll reciprocate whatever courtesy you extend me. image

    DOGGG;
You are a courteous individual! Though, when one has went beyond what you've expressed in your last statement (referring to myself), one tends to become disturbed when a mere reply from the buyer is like "Searching for a needle in a haystack." Yes, I go above and beyond the "Canned" ebay notice. I send personalized (not that it's necessary; however, I think it's keeps the customer satisfied), message(s) stating that their purchase is appreciated, accompanied by a thank you via ebay's "Send invoice" option. I'll use a pseudo number...Of the 400 or so trivial in number feedback that I possess, at minimum, 90% of the folk; either buyer or seller, have been courteous enough to reply to my emails. Of the 10% difference, 8% tend to be the deadbeats, and the other 2% don't comprehend sellers/buyers etiquette...if there is such a thing...image

Thank you razorface1027. You sound like a buyer/seller I'd like to do biz with.
