Lincoln Cent Grades in

Invoice 9012948

1 60150122 1935 1C USA MS66RD
Nice example, no better than 66, right on the money... not in the money but I sent it in b/c I liked it, and wanted it in my personal PCGS set

2 60150123 1935-D 1C USA MS66RD
Very high end example, but I expected it to 66. It's nicer than 67RD's I've had for this date, but it's just a really PQ 66.

3 60150124 1936-D 1C USA MS65RD
Ouch... I wonder if this one may have deteriorated in the mail, or wait, or something, this was the one I thought had a strong shot at 67.... emmm.

4 60150125 1936-S 1C USA MS66RD
Right on the money. This is a really nice 66RD and way above average for what I see for this date. It wouldnt go 67RD at PCGS, though.

5 60150126 1949 1C USA MS66RD
Right on the money. This is a really nice 66RD with absolutly no problems.

  • Nice score on the 49-P and the 35-D. I have found that its better (because haze and turning can be an issue) to send coins I think have a real shot at a money grade to pay the extra and go for the Reg or Express svc. I have had coins develop a haze after a month in a flip.

    Congrats on the 49-p.
  • Based on your submission date I still have tens days to wait for my longest outstanding Invoice.

Nice report, I think the key is that you know what to expect from PCGS. 99% of the threads I read about grades make me wonder if the submitter really knows how PCGS grades. Well 79% anyway.image I believe more collectors need to spend more time on looking at coins graded by PCGS before they submit. I have a hunch if they did turn times would get shorter.

I have bad news for you, Tony. Based on my submission date, 11.13, that is not done yet, you have a lot longer than 10 days. image

Thanks guys. I did pretty well on this invoice, as I suspect I will on the other three invoices that I still have at PCGS. Four of these were slightly better dates, so I separated them out from the tear jerking screamer common dates so they'd get a "fair shake." The jaw droppers should be graded soon. They arrived in the same package as this submission. It's a pretty big invoice (at least for me it is), I think around 25-30 coins.... I forget... it's been so long. It may be that PCGS is trying to clear out some "small" invoices. I know nothing of how they handle things, but it would make for better crowd control to have thirty or fourty 20+ coin invoice submitters displeased than to have 120-130 5-10 coin submitters calling customer service.

P.S. There are two denominations I feel like I know well enough to be a PCGS grader on: Morgans and Lincolns. The rest... I know enough to keep myself out of trouble on.
