Now that is a nice one!!! Unusual, but beautiful, full front is unique and I prefer it over the profile any day of the week. Can you give us more info?

  • With all those beautiful patterns I wonder why none of them ever got to circulate. Perhaps they were too artistic to be practical? French coins from the 1800s are beautiful, but I must admit that they start to pale a little after I have seen all those nice patterns.

Boiler - that is one darn nice coin image

I wish I knew more about the coin but I don't have the Mazard (sp?) reference book yet. I bought it from NEN and it is designated as Maz 1251b gilt. Presumably copper.

I have to confess, I have a lot to learn about foreign patterns. I bought it because it looks too cool to send back.

Maybe Laurent could lend a hand here and provide more information. image

Mark, you have a beautiful pattern there. I have checked and so far this one eludes me-I'll keep looking.image

I was unable to find any info on it as well. The second volume of the Mazard book contains the info and that is insanely hard to find.

Since Mark posted this I bought the coin from him and have sold it to ARCO, another board member.

Any info on this pattern would be appreciated.

And, as a shameless plug, I have four more for sale on the bst board. image
