NGC Registry Bias?

[OK, since you responded already...]

All the NGC Registry awards but one went to sets that had a majority of coins as NGC. They even had to reach pretty far down the totem pole to pick a set in the classics. Can you believe that Cardinal's fine Bust Dollar set did not receive a best set award? Sheesh.

For those interested, I did some analysis that showed conclusively that fine sets were bypassed because they only contained 20 or 30% NGC.

Now, I guess that's fine - they can do as they like since it's their Registry- but I like to know the rules I'm playin' by........

    Craig,

He's noting that their registry awards went to sets that were a higher percentage NGC coins.

After buying a 1964 PR65CAM NGC Accented Hair and submitting it raw to PCGS, I'm still buying NGC - when it's a good coin. It came back PR66CAM!! image

But his set recieved award for best presented sets. I think all the sets recieved awards are really great....it would have been tough for NGC to choose.

ANACS MS63 Merc to a NGC MS63 to a PCGS MS64FB. The coin a 1925S. Who was right and who was wrong on this coin? The real question for me is. Who cares? I do not because the coin was liked as a ANACS 63 or it would not have been purchased.

The NGC registries would be quite pathetic without the participation from the collectors that buy both NGC and PCGS slabbed coins. Some, like myself, choose to enter and concentrate basically on PCGS slabbed coins so when it comes to Registry Awards over there I can see their point, even if it was not stated, and accept their decision in reguard to the Awards.

They took a good concept - a more inclusive Registry - and just threw the baby out with the bathwater. Big mistake to willy nilly apply a rule like that and not let anybody know.

Why...if PCGS had done it, the bashers would be having a heyday! image

According to this mornings readings very little Bashing happens at a certain location. I guess I just get "The Wrong Read" out of many threads and posts. A apololgy was given for being such a "Maroon", remember the Maroon Post from a year or so ago, for even suggesting that people would constantly post in a negative manner.

    Darn It.......imageimageimage
