poll of the toughest psa 8 cards of the 60's

I know that this topic has been briefly discussed on previous threads but I wanted to see what everyones new opinion is for 2004 as far as what they perceive the toughest cards are (baseball only) from 1960 to 1969 in psa 8 grade.

I am almost complete with a 1962 topps set in all psa 8 grade and have found these cards to be very hard to find either graded psa 8 or really nice in their raw state:

Blanchard
Landrum
Witt
Frank Robinson #350
Mantle switch hitter connects

Any thoughts on 62's or other years from the sixties?

  • The first one that comes to mind is the 1969 Topps #85 Lou Brock. Never got far enough into the set before I sold out, but I know this is a tough one.

1960 Topps Curt Simmons is a doozy.

1962 Topps Landrum has a 0 pop in 8 the last time I looked. Are there any other cards in the 1960's that have 0 pop in 8? That might make it the King of tough.

I know this one is not the 60's, but the 1959 Topps Gus Triandos is almost impossible to find in high grade and an 8.

1965 Topps Charlie Smith and 1969 Topps Mike Andrews has a pop 4 in PSA 8 and pop 1 in PSA 9. I do not know the pop for the Smith but I think it's 5?
  • I think that 65 Topps #22 Smith is a POP 4, but there was someone who posted recently who claimed their raw one would be #5. That is definitely the hardest for 1965 and also the most talked about.

1969 #110 Mike Shannon, #78 Tom Satriano, #663 Dick Radatz, #49 Royals Rookies (either variation). I believe the 1968 Reds rookies with Hal McRae is pretty tough. The 1967 Orlando Cepeda is somewhat challenging as well.
