That would be James M Sego. Known as segoja on this forum. He is the #1,,,,,, NUMERAL UNO GUY in both the Ike Dollar Basic & Varieties Set. That is where the COOL IKE'S came from.

Interesting. All the Mint only moderns in one set.

But then I'd have to break them out of the packaging they came in. image

    You're right!

I might be a crying shame!

On the other hand, it mught be more good competition.

    Bill,

    Not sure!

Still a vlaue player, not #1 at all costs!

I like to make most of my coins as well, even though I have bought some of those in this set!

The nickels and halves are worth about what the set is worth in MS69, so they are really not worth making. Just as easy to buy already slabbed!

One day it'll happen, but it'll be a fun battle!

I have a 1976-S Washington for sale that will help you.... MS68, "Jordan" on holder. I'd be proud to have this coin in your set! Scans/price on request if you provide an e-mail address.

    Not yet!

I have several 1987 halves that will be goign to the slab factory after next week's St Pete show. Hoping for 67's, but I'm certain of 66's.

Then I still need the SBA's.

    Bill,

Work you set-up some! This could be a fun competition!

I don't have the money to put into the set it would take to fend you off right now.

    Bill,

DO the local shows or your local coin shops.

    That's how I got started.

You obviously have a good eye, so use it on the raw stuff.

That'll keep the competition up and your costs down!

An MS68 76-S Ike is too much money for me!

Now if you would trade my MS68 Washington (and an extra 75 cents to make up the denomination difference) for your MS68 Ike, I'll do it! I'll even pay the extra 75 cents in MS67 state quarters--my choice of dates! image

    IS THIS FOR REAL?????????

Pop of 73 in MS68 commands that kind of money???????

I can not not justify that kind of cash for that coin.

    Bill,

That's right. A really nice piece is even more!

Make one! That's what I did. They only cost you time!!! But time is money, so I may have paid more than $1000 for mine, but isn't that the lure of coins???

A PCGS MS68 1976-S IKE Dollar is a BARGIN @ $900. I have sold them for as much as $1200 earlier this year. The eBay coin is mine. I also have 2 others for sale. If anybody needs one PM me or e-mail gdhoop@lightbound.com. All 3 are NICE coins!

    Thanks, GrandAm

    Grandam,

When I saw the current one up for auction I noticed that I still had the last one in my watchlist.
Then I noticed they were sequencial serial numbers.

How many have you made this year?
    What's your secret?

    KHayse,

I have made 7 since April. No secret. I look at THOUSANDS of IKE'S and submit several hundred pcs each year and after looking at that many I have gotten pretty good at grading them. I normally only buy less than 10% of all IKE'S I look at. I send in BULK lots of 100 pcs or more and save on grading fee's. I have all the Silver IKE'S in PCGS MS65-66-67 & 68. If anybody needs any LMK.

    Thanks, GrandAm
