Why the Morgan price jump in July?

I was looking at an 1881-CC Morgan MS-65. The price was $750.
When I checked the price history I discovered it had been $600 until
June then jumped to $750 in July.
Can anyone tell me what happened in July to cause that kind of increase ?

Quality Carson City Morgan Dollars have been some of the hottest coins in this hot market. The 1881-CC is one of the moderately priced Morgans at $510-560 in MS-65 as of the August Greysheet.
Hope that this helps...

Now I have to decide; if coin prices are rising faster than health insurance,
much less inflation, how long can I continue to collect coins ?

I personally would recommend purchasing the 1881-CC in either MS-63 PL/DMPL or MS-64 PL/DMPL.
If you check the Greysheet prices you will see that you can purchase an MS-64 for a slight premium over MS-63 which is a no brainer.
An MS-63 DMPL is about the same price as an MS-64 Unc. And an MS-64 DMPL is about the same price as an MS-65. And you should be able to get the PL's for somewhere between the Unc & DMPL prices.
My personal preference would be to get the DMPL at one grade lower rather than the Unc, because I love the PL's & DMPL's, and I feel that they are scarcer.
1881-CC MS-63 DMPL is about $375 and in MS-64 DMPL it's about $525. But in today's market it's tough to buy them at Greysheet prices. Many dealers pay over Greysheet for nice cameo contrast coins. Most dealers charge 25-50% over Greysheet for these in this hot market.
I hope that this is useful info for you -- enjoy the hunt!!

BTW, I agree with Stuart. I wouldn't buy an MS65 at the current greysheet++. I'd go for an MS64 or an MS63PL/DMPL.
