WAHOO!!! Made the first Page!!!!

Sorry if I am blowing my own horn but............

I am currently at #20.With 11 of the top 16 sets at 100%,3 at over 90%,and two others over 80%, there is not much wiggle room on the first page.I am building the 56 set in 8 or better and currently have a GPA at 8.10.I probably should have started with a set that was a little more obtainable at a decent price or lowered my standards. Oh well !! image

Please be kind to me. Even though I'm now a former postal employee, I'm still capable of snapping at any time.

  • Nice job, Vic. It's always a thrill to crack the top 20 on a set. Now you can set 19 more "mini goals" for yourself. image

Register your set on the '56 Master Registry and you'll enter at the #5 spot!

    Good luck with the set.

  • Nice going Vic! I wish you well in your '56 quest.

Go ahead....blow your horn. When your doing so well it's great to point it out to some of us that wouldn't otherwise realize because we can't follow every set.

    Well done.
There is a fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness"

  • The first set I ever added to the Registry was 1963 Topps. I submitted almost the entire set during the summer of 2000.

For a long, long time I was #1. Then somebody passed me, with 100% PSA 8 or better. I was stunned, dumbfounded and crushed. But I congratulated him and he ended up helping me upgrade my set and shed a ton of knowledge about the set with me.

Then another past me. And another. Then came Marshall Fogel. I figured, hey, I just hope to remain in the top 10 until I give up the ghost.

There are a few more breathing down my neck and will eventually pass me.

So all I can say is, "enjoy it while it lasts." Because someday, either you will hit the wall or somebody will kick your collecting bohunkus.

    Great going Vic!

And if you can't blow your own horn here, where can you blow it!

Just try this... run into the family room where your wife is reading the Sunday paper and exclaim in your proudest voice - "honey, you'll never guess!!! I just cracked the top 20 on the PSA Set Registry for the 56 Topps Set!"

    The possible responses include....

    1) She jumps off the couch and rushes into your arms...

    2) She asks how many more positions are in striking distance if you pick up some more Hall of Famers in PSA 9.

    3) She doesn't look up from the paper and says "thats nice dear...".

    4) She doesn't look up from the paper and asks "and how much did that cost?".

Blowing your own horn on the registy forum is always the place to go!!!!!

  • Frank,

I am fortunate that my wife spends more on cards than I do. But in true female fashion she complains about it anyway and it is somehow still my fault.

    Way to go Greg!

I'm sure that I could get my wife involved if she saw what money could be made. Of course, then my collection would be fair game for eBay too... So, the status quo is just fine...
