Well, on my last survey (10 collectors you would like to go to a major show with...), almost everybody broke the most primal rule...10 ONLY!!!...
I heard all the lame excuses about how the members wanted to "squeek" just 1 or 2 more names in......ha...
About 50 posts popped up with all kinds of combinations of characters...
Well......................
Tighten your belts one more notch boys............
Things are going to get a little tougher...........
Here's the next question..........
If you could only pick...
ONE, "AND ONLY ONE"..., collector to attend a major show with...
Who would it be ?????
Lots of great guys, but my top pick would be....
Jay Wolt....Qualitycards.....
Who's your pick ???

I was a little disheartened that I wasn't mentioned in any of the 10 people to deal with on cards, since I sold Dave Read about 300 of the 72 Topps cards for his set, my trading and purchasing with Frank Bakka, Erik Jarvi, Carlos Aponted, emards, etc.
But, I have posted some very stupid posts and I guess that knocks me down and off the list.

PS - Of course, YOU led off the other thread with more than ten yourself, so don't cry in your beer if others throw one or two extra names in the hat!

My wife just read this question and whispered her name in my ear. Of course I laughed right in her face and am still laughing as she knows this is a totally ridiculous thought. Ok slave girl, get back to your chores.
This question is too dam hard, but if I have to pick I would say it's a tie between Cubfan and Zardoz. I didn't meet either of them at the National and really was hoping to. We tend to like a lot of the same cards, and I get along with them really well. KING KELLOGG would make my list too, but since I already met him once he gets booted down to the first alternate list .
Hey I did well! I gave only two names and an alternate!!
By the way KING KELLOGG what are you trying to do to us here, end friendships with these questions?
JEB.
She could pick me up some extra stuff...

King,
Two great posts.Since I am fairly new(this year)and don't have much interaction with the board on cards,I wasn't expecting to see my name come up.Although I have never met Jay Wolt and having only met Dan Markel briefly,I would say almost a tie as far as my idea of their knowledge goes.I guess the edge must go to Dan just because I met him at the luncheon.I would say that either would qualify as experts.I would also give an honorable mention to Mercerfan,as he probably is right up there in that expert catagory.
Mercerfan,
Is this the first time that anybody has used the word honorable in reference to you?
Vic
I can only assume that you didn't choose me because you know that my arrival in North Florida is imminent.
BTW, did I ever thank you for the info that you sent me? If not, I apologize. It's been a busy couple of months for me. I look forward to seeing you soon. I'll let you know when I plan to be in the area.
JEB.
James
As I have quite a few pals on this board, I shall look outside of our fraternity here, and choose an outsider.
Charlie Sheen (and yes, he's a collector)
The first time you did this I thought it was an interesting but bad idea. I really don't see the point in running a popularity contest here. There's got to be something a little more creative that you could come up with.
If you really want to know the truth, I would rather spend a majority of the time alone so that I can talk to the dealers I do business with personally. If I can't be alone, I would prefer to spend the day with James listening to him b.i.t.c.h. at PSA about whatever his current issue is with them. Hopefully, I can get some good pictures of PSA representatives rolling their eyes and trying to get away from him in a polite manner. Maybe I can even get a shot of Joe Orlando cowering behind the black curtain waiting for James to go away. At the PSA luncheon, I would get the pleasure of listening to James whine about how his cheesecake was too cheesy or something important like that. During the question and answer session, I am certain that Joe Orlando will have to spend 30 minutes defending why there isn't a Wade Boggs registry special. No, I can't possibly think of a more exciting way to spend a day.

Actually for a wiseass I'm pretty boring, I guess spending half my life sorting cards can do that to you. Many a night I played w/ Topps late '80's vending cases, you know 12,000 cards per to make sets, team sets and to take the stars/rookies from it.
That was like large doses of Prozac or Lithium, very mind numbing.
But KING KELLOGG you had your chance at the National on Thursday, I was planning to be charming, insightful and hilarious. Anything to earn my meal. Ahhhh! it woulda been something.
My answer to the question of who would I take would be my son the Marine, who is leaving Okinowa as we speak and heading to his next location in the Phillipines. We saw him last Xmas, and are hoping to see him this coming Xmas if he has enough leave. He used to love setting up (moreso then I did) at Fort Washington, so he would love to see the action of a major show again. ...jay

Let's see?
BS'ing with Jay, or a bimbo on each arm?
Like I really have to think about this one! hahahahahahaha

I suggested a Wade Boggs special in this thread earlier in the year. I guess it fell on deaf ears. Oh well, keep at it, I'm sure they'll eventually cave and offer you a tremendous deal.
JEB.
A close second would be Fank Bakka, who has been most kind and gracious in several emails to him picking his brain about the 72 set.

Knowledge speaks, wisdom listens
I will keep sending a letter each week til J.O. gives in. And after he caves in , it will be 2 letters a week. Not an exact quote but it was in the green mile.
And I recently obtained a PSA 1988 Topps regular card. Very tough card a fellow board member sent a few in I gave him and 1 of his and was nice enuff to share. He recieved 3 9's and only sent in 3. And sold me 2 for cost of the grading!!!
James
Smelly...I guess I really don't have any creative parts about me. Thank you.

I would pick Jay Wolt....he said he would let me borrow his AMEX card.
I couldnt pass it up!
John
Hey I have an idea how about Jay for president
Don't feel bad, neither was I and I've dealt with most people on these boards.
With that said my choice is Alohaet. Great guy, honest and a pleasure to communicate with.
If I could pick one person….. I couldn’t (lame I know) there are so many collectors that can spot great raw cards. Not having the experience myself I would like to follow and learn from anyone who could point out why one card has a better chance, at a high grade, over another. I have submitted cards that looked like 10’s and they come back as 8’s. I’ve looked at 9’s and my 8’s look better, even under a 20x loop.
Frank… that 1970 Seaver is in my collection now. check out the pic.
JEB … I’m flattered but my approach is to just use a deep wallet. No real science here.
chriskk
Jay already had his own day. President might go to his head...

BASILONE - Your welcome to my expired AMEX card, or my new AMEX account past due bills, your choice!
STUMP - President, ehh! - How about El Presidente! Ruthless dictator that demands you send him cards.
Those '65's would look good back here, safe & sound, back where they belong.
THEBOBS - I forgot all about that. Nice Memory ...jay
