Need Help Identifying an old foreign coin.

The obverse of the coin has the words GEORGIVIS VI D:G:BR: OMN:REX.
The reverse of the coin has the words FID: DEF:IND:IMP.
The coin is worth two shillings, and was minted in 1942.
The Reverse design has consists of a flower with a crown on top of it.
To the right of the flower is a three leaf clover with the letter R bellow it.
To the left of the flower is what looks like a thistle with the letter G bellow it.
The obverse features a head facing left.
The coin is a little larger than a quarter

If anybody can tell me if the coin is worth anything or what country it came from I would appriciate it.

  • I don't think the coin is copper.

The coin has toned a dark grey color, but I can still see a silver color around the rim.

    Thanks for the welcome Cam40

    Welcome.

If Askari sees this post , I know for sure he will give you the skinny on your coin.

I guess its silver if it aint copper. I shouldnt even try to guess these things as I have
nearly no knowledge of foriegn coinage.
I do think however that the GR.B stand for Great Britin.....see I cant even spell britin right...image
  • Ok thanks for the help anyway.
  • Sounds like an English two shilling piece. I think two shillings were worth 24 English pennies before they went decimal. As to value I have no idea.

By the way, a Florin equals 2 Shillings. And it is silver.

    Welcome, Tex!
