Ever seen a Walker turned into a ring by tapping with a spoon?

    << <i>Please explain tapping to a newbie. >>

You can imagine how bored people were 100+ years ago! Some would take a silver spoon and gently tape the side of a coin, such as PQPeace's 1848 large cent. They would move the edges between their fingers and continue to tape the edge of the coin essentially decreasing the size of it.
All in the name of fun?
Well, some coins were tapped to a point they would then after hours of working the edges (rim) with the spoon the center of the coin would be cut out or drilled and the coin turned into a ring.

Now with the advent of the internet and sporting events the "art" of tapping is a dieing one. image

Some Large Cents were crafted, back in their time, into clock works (gears).
