How many new collectors have you introduced into this hobby this year?

For my 500th Post, thought I would make it a little special.

I would like to know, how many new collectors have you introduced into the hobby in the past year? (Or past collectors that you have gotten started back into collecting)

To keep the coin market fun, strong and healthy in future years, there needs to be continued introduction of new collectors into the hobby!!!

For me!
I have been able to intoduced 8 new people in past 6 months that have never had a prior intrest in collecting.

1) Jack P Working on a collection of Mid-grade Lincolns (Only needs the 22 No D)
2) Steve S Likes buying oddity type coins (Half cent, two cent, 20c, )
3) Jack M Morgan Silver dollars (working on a date set)
4) Doug W Loves peace $, but is currently working on a low grade set of lincolns
5) Jesse B Just started two weeks ago, and working on Jefferson Nickels
6) Robert F Buys nice looking coins (mostly 20th century type)
7) Mike H Flying eagles and silver dollars
8) Roger A Franklin halves and CC dollars

NONE! I don't want any more competition.

  • I got six boy scouts started collecting after they completed their projects on the coin collecting merit badge. Luckily for me and Russ it is not the Kennedy.

Donated to three projects on this board and got my boss interested in the collecting aspect(he's a metal detecting nut). So far we have been to two shows and will be going to another next Sunday.

Don't know if they weren't collectors already, but I'm sure the Giveaway, with the help of countless other Board members, allowed me to infuse a little more "collector" into 13 children!

Tough question. The answer is at least one. My nephew(7) is actively pursuing
sets of circulating coinage. I encourage a lot of people in various ways and it
would be difficult to guess how many wouldn't be collecting otherwise.

I started a coin trading card game and have directed the production and distribution of around 500 trading cards and still going with many falling into the hands of newbies. Each having a full color photograph along with coin facts. I would hope a few may get the coin bug bite.
