Did anyone buy 2003 Gold Proofs today?

They started selling today ( at $630 an ounce ). They raised the prices a few bucks over last year too.

I bought a half eagle to use on one of my free submissions and take a shot at getting a 70 (even though I think a smaller coin has a better chance).

I bought 'em today, too. I figure if I'm one of the first to buy, they'll all be fresh off the dies, and I'll get all PR70s.

I cant afford gold right now so I'm going to have to stick with the silver proofs...

Never again at these prices. $300.00 over the price of the gold itself seems alittle steep. What does it cost them to mint them?

Bill, I'm with you.

I always felt the prices were already a bit exorbitant and included a hefty profit, but an increase? I guess the less than 2 oz proof set is probably >$1K now, or very very close.
