Do you ever compare figuring out the meaning of forum user names to figuring out personalized licens

I see combinations to letters/numbers/words and sometimes just when I think
I know what they mean, I get floored.

I like simple user names like my own, or barberlover, dcamfranklin, cladking,
wondercoin, supercoin, wayneherndon, no mystery there.

,but sometimes a little mystery is fun.image

I'm still trying to figure mine out.

    BTW, my license plate is:

    CAPTOOL

Who can guess what it means?

    Russ:
I would recommend the following license plates for you.

    1. 1964DCAM
    2. AH-KING
    3. MR.70
    4. PROOFLIKE
    5. SPECIMEN

Which one do you like the best?

    Brian,

We have a limit of 7 letters in this state, so that eliminates all but two of the suggestions, neither of which is particularly appealing. I'm not the king of anything, and I don't own any 70s. If we didn't have that limit, I'd like number 1: 1964DCAM. Of course, that could be condensed to 64DCAM.

In any event, my current plate has very special meaning to me and it won't be changed. image

I also saw a RAMPAGE but not the one who posts here.
Also yesterday a VII FE which would be a 7 iron to a golfer. Coulda inferred he was a chemist too cept iron is not in group VII of the periodic table.

    Russ,

I want to say Capital Tool, but they're from India. Does it mean Captain Out Of Luck?

    I was thinking for mine:

    1. FSB
    2. 1916-D
    3. 45FB
    5. MS68
    6. PROOF

    Any thoughts?

    I am leaning toward 1916-D

Seth almost nailed it. It's Capitalist Tool, and yes it's Malcolm Forbes. I wrote him back in 1989 and asked permission to use it, (was driving a Vette at the time). He wrote me a PERSONAL letter back granting that permission! I've had it framed hanging on my wall ever since.

The license plate on my '39 DeSoto is "H 15", and it is not a specialized vanity plate, just a low numbered 1939 Washington State license plate. Only year plate to be green with gold letters to celebrate 50th year anniversary of WA state.

My old plates was MACGURU and FORKQ (they took that one away after a month!), and I just gave up MARTYK (It was a pickup plate). Now I have a stock all Numbers plate!

I tried to get a plate with something about "dog" on it years ago but dmv wanted to charge me extra.
That's bs because my buddies up @ the state pen don't charge dmv any extra so I got a standard one.

  • VonZipper is a nickname my uncle gave me when I worked in the tobacco fields as a kid during the summer. Never knew where he got it, someone thought that they remembered a character called VonZipper who played a hood in one of the 60's beach blanket movies with avalon/funichello, maybe that's it.But I just like to tell people it from the name of the company I own.image

I question the logic of paying $$$ for a plate that means zilch to everyone else.Better to spend the $$$ on a windshield sticker that tells everyone what kind of POS I drive,in case they missed the 12 other emblems plastered all over the rolling rust-catcher.image

I've long toyed with "fugio" for plates, but they're so strict in Indiana that it probably wouldn't "fly" anymore.

NH came out with special Veteran plates with a flag, so I got "-NAVY-"

I tried for just NAVY without the dashes, but somebody had it. Only $25 a year for a vanity plate in NH, so why not.

    ms71,

When I lived in Nashua I had SAIL+ because SAIL was already taken. Funny, NH is the only state I know of where you can put "+" or "&" on your plate.

    Cheers,

I wonder if you can get one with all dashes or plus signs, or some combination of them; or if you have to have a letter or number in there somewhere. It'd be kind of slick to have "------" as your plate.

Our newest car (as of Monday) still has the paper tag, and my mom didn't give me the chance to think of a cool plate image

The problem here in IL, is that they raised the cost of Vanity plates. If you get them without numbers there is a one time charge of $250, then it's an extra $11 per year for the stickers. If you get them with numbers it's just $11 extra plus a one time fee of $75!

Living just north west (a few hundred miles) from Cody, Wyoming, I have to ask why these plates.

My plates are MSUZ17. If you can figure it out, let me know so I know.

My Uncle one time refered my brother to a client of his that was a lawyer. When my brother went to the lawyers` office, they chatted a few minutes after the consultation. The lawyer showed him a picture of his brand new red Lincoln Town Car. The vanity plate said " I SUE4U " . My brother brought home a packet from the lawyer office and had the lawyer posing next to the car with the vanity plate. Pretty funny to see.
