Eagle Coin Albums

I was just reading a previous post when the mention and link to Eagle Coin Holders/Albums where mentioned. Now being a fairly new collector, I have never heard of them so I clicked on the link to check them out. I think they look great, I recently finished my Walking Liberty set that is all circulated unslabed coins. We store these coins in binder type pages, the ones that hold twenty coins per page, so we can flip back and forth through the book and enjoy our collection. I know that the set is not worth tons of cash, but the lessons we learned, and the many hours of work we had to put into it, and the hours that me and the little lady sit back to discuss where these coins may have been, have made it a set that we will hold and cherish for ever. Now however since we both enjoy Walkers alot (Me more so, She digs those IHC) We have started working on our Slabbed Short set. We are NOT working on a set that will eventually be a number one registry, we just don't have that kind of money and we realize this, so to make it more fun, our intentions are to just find nice coins that we both think are fascinating for some reason or another, wheather it be a nice luster, or a toned ugly duckling, whatever you get the idea. Anyways to the point :-) We were wondering if any of you fine collectors have one of these albums for the walkers, and what do you think about them. I noticed that they use a foam filler for older PCGS slabs and ANACS slabs I believe. This will also come into play for use since we do not discriminate between NGC, PCGS, ANACS ((Should we?, for real question)) to pick out coins that interest us.

Thanks a bunch for all your helpfull insight. There will be a ton of questions soon, but we are trying to read through most of the old posts to make sure we don't ask a question that has just been talked about. Amazing how much we are learning. Thanks again.

I've got quite a few of them and I like them. My only complaint is that if you put heavy coins in them the 3 ring binder holes break after a few months and the pages fall out. Eagle will replace them but it's a hassel having to mail them back.
Change that we can believe in is that change which is 90% silver.
  • Dog,

    Thanks for the tip!

Now I know what those little round stickers with the hole in the middle are for!!!

I just bought one months ago and have Morgans in them. I don't seem to have any problem with the pages tearing or breaking out. No I'm not delicate with them.... But on the flip side I'm not clawing at them and digging through them like some Dog either. (smile)

Hi Cap welcome to the board. myself I never use eagle albums. I have the littleton album for the few morgans I do collect. I agree with your mrs. on the IHC that a fun series but the 77 and Ss can be a little pricey. Mine are cirulated in a whitmans folder. I keep my slab coins in PCGS plasic boxes.

Thanks guys, Mac we don't have the 64L, 77 or the S's yet. We can kinda kick ourself for starting a damn Proof IKE set that we want to complete in MS69DC. I think we can both agree now that we would of rather had the 77, 08's, 09s in good condition then this set. but we live and learn. In fact we don't have any nice unc IHC yet, but I will surprise her one day soon and get her a real nice shiny Red one. My way of saying thanks for letting us focus on the walkers first. I can just hear her family, "He gave you a shiny penny, oh what a man such a provider" :-)

you should have heard my wife the day I came home with the 77. but what the heck it seemed to be on layaway forever. I'ld go pay on it and ask to see it weekly and just look. now I have it I hardly ever dig it out to admire. I've been working on types lately. I pick up a uncirulated 26 SLQ and a 08 ms 63 V nickel at the show today (well yesterday by now).

  • I use Eagle albums all the time. I started by using the slab holders, then I bought the flat holders
for mint and flat proofs sets. Next I bought the proof set books and I love them.

Now I am putting a full set of Washington Quarters in two of their notebooks with their white coin holders. So much better than the cardboard flips.

I like their index cards and the little gold dots for the date and mint. I copy the dot sheet and have a reference of which coins I need.

Sometimes the holders will pop open and then I use a dab of clear fingernail polish to seal them.

stman maybe hopefully they've improved them. Last time I was in contact with Eagle the Cust Ser guy said they were working on it. Mine were really old, & got brittle. I still recommend the album. It's neat the way you can put anything from a large PCGS & NGC slab to a small ANACS slab and also raw coins in 2x2s all in the same album.

On a side note. I like airtites but I don't like the airtite albums. Now Eagle has album pages for US Commemoratives that are still in the Mint Capsules. These will work for airtites too!

I also use Eagle holders for my raw Washington set. I went the less expensive way though and bought my own three ring binders. I started using their storage boxes, but got tired of having to dig through the box when I wanted to look at particular coins. They work great, the only minor problem I have is sometomes the coin doesn't stay centered in the holder.

    Looking for PCGS AU58 Washington's, 32-63.
