    Dave,
I you provide larger files (board allows up to 50K size) that will show more details, people will surely give you feedback.
Give Blood (Red Bags) & Platelets (Yellow Bags)!
  • Welcome calvet.

I can't see much detail on those scans. I can tell you have a neat gold type set. While I can't say anything about grade I do agree that coins like that can and should be slabbed.
  • Ditto! image

  • Calvet,

Welcome to the boards! (The pod grows some moreimage).

I can't advise you on these coins, but wanted to greet you.

Larger size images would definitely help those who are knowledgeable about non-bullion gold coins.

I hope you enjoy your stay here!
  • Sorry about the scans but while I upgaded my computers, my scanner lags behind.
Is there any recommended preps to the coins prior to submitting, ie. rinse in distilled water or acetone prior to mailing out the coins??
    thanks Dave

Hi Dave, welcome to the forum! We really need some bigger pictures to help with some feedback on these coins. Do you have access to a digital camera? I would not soak the coins in anything. If this is your first submission maybe it will be a learning experience either way good or bad- I hope it's good! Please let us know how it turns out. image mike

Dave, did you pick you symbol out because it looks sharp or were you on Submarines. Dan, 20 years in Subs.
  • hard to tell from pics but they do look like some fine examples of gold.

    Welcome to the boards!!

I would agree with the dog. Follow all instructions thoroughly. Dont mess with them at all unless you are confident in your abilities.

My only advice is, dont worry. If you love the coins now raw, then no matter what they come back, you should still love then.

To work on your grading however it is always good to make a sheet of your own grades beforehand and see how they come back from PCGS. If you hit 90% or above then we will start asking you to grade for us!!!

Lick em, stick em, mail em and let the crap shoot begin!!!!!!!!

    Be good,
    John

Calvert, welcome to our family. Nice to have you on board. The grading process is somewhat

subjective. We as collectors have a tendency to overgrade our coins and are sometimes

disappointed with the grading results. In time, you learn to presort your coins and the grading

starts to reflect your anticipation. Bear

Only coinguy1 can grade from scans image so it's hard to tell from those.

But because they're gold, be prepared to receive some "Cleaned/Whizzed" or the dreaded "Not Genuine" body bags.image

    Good Luck!

Although I am unable to give you advice on the coins, I will say that you should put padding between the coin filps to make the trip through the mail or however you ship. I cut up old jiffy mailers and put a 2 1/2 x 2 1/2 pad between each flip to keep the coins from knocking together through the holders. You may even want to call customer service to see if they can offer any packaging tips. I know I would hate to have coins get damaged through shipping and padding is cheap.

My advise is to have a LOT of patience. My submission has been at PCGS for nearly 45 days now without being processed. image

Wrap each coin in a carefully folded C-note.
