this coin is a major score in a ms67, I don't think thats what you have here, i see a slice in the lower right neck, its always hard to grade from a scan....... i see this in the ms65-66....

First - I'm not a toning person by nature (I do like the cool stuff you guys and gals post here, though!)... But I LIKE that quarter dollar! the reverse is just perfect.
I don't know the strike characteristics of all the Washington years, but if I were looking at an early 60s wooden-tooth, I'd say low MS to very high AU.
Washington folks, are the 53-S quarter dollars generally weak at the date and on the eagle's breast?
If the coin is AU, (and I honestly don't know one way or the other), it wouldn't break my heart. I bought it as AU for a whopping $3.
My thinking was that if the toning is legit, and I believe it is, that it wouldn't look like this as an AU coin. In other words, I was playing a high dollar hunch - rolling the dice with the big bucks!
When I said that I thought it was AU, I forgot to mention that it is beautiful. For three bucks you got about the best deal I've heard of since someone on this forum bought a PCGS 1946 Walker in MS64 and had it upgraded to MS65 DDR. I've always liked pretty AU over ugly MS.
It's one of the coins I picked up the first day of the PNNA show. I paid the early bird fee so I could have the first couple hours with no competition from the public. Also picked up this Lincoln:

Your neck is just as valid as anybody elses.

Whatever the grade, at/nt or what, it's beautiful! I'd put it up front in my Washingtons!

That was a whole $1.75.

A really cool thing about these forums is the ability to live coin shows through the forum members (albeit vicariously).
Thanks for sharing!
