FYI, not judgmental, non-inflammatory post: I was high bidder with a solid bid on a lot being sold by rarecoinseller. It was a 10-day eBay auction, that included this line: ALL ITEMS ARE STARTED AT THE LOWEST BID THAT WE CAN ACCEPT. My bid was more than 10 times the opening.

With 8 minutes to go in the auction, bids are cancelled due to a "listing error." The auction was up for nine days, 23 hours and 52 minutes. I am so glad he caught the error in the listing with 8 minutes to go ...

    Ahh. Ol'Pepperdoodles was an underbidder on the auction. He would have come in with his 5 second snipe and overbid you anyway. What the heck. image

    Yes, I sent him a polite e-mail asking why bids were cancelled so close to the close and what the error was in the listing. I have not received a response -- nor do I expect one. Watch ... it will be relisted shortly.

    This has happened to me twice now. Ebays take is=maybe there was a legitimate mistake to warrant an early ending now ! I don't think so-they were both $1.00 to start and when time was up,-thats what they were to be sold for-they NEVER REACHED THE AUCTION END DUE TO CANCELLATION BY SELLER EARLY.

    If its nice and you REALLY like it " buy it " sure beats laying awake wishin you had, PLUS you will never forget or FORGIVE YOURSELF for letting it get away-and remember you can always pedel it to regain most of $ . Just one of many of " buying politics I utilize.
    Besides I really lost sleep and beat myself up yo learn this simple procedure !~!

    I'd definitely report this activity every time to e-bay and be nasty about it.

    Has anyone else noticed how IMPOSSIBLE it is to find the e-bay link to file a complaint????? I'm still looking after 40 minutes.

    Ebay actually has a forum for coins and currency where you can take this type of complaint.

    Once in a blue moon they have a live chat session with a big shot ebay VP or some such where you can make general complaints. Like how hard it is to register a complaint for one thing. I'll watch for the next chat session and post the schedule here, so maybe the board members here can gang up on them with their complaints.
