Where can I get uncirculated nickles

I want rolls of uncirculated 2003 Jefferson where can I get them. Why cant we buy them from the mint and then why do we have to go throught well's fargo or the banks?? I figure that the new ones will be coming out soon and the Jeffersons will be going up in price. Is that a crazy thought???

  • Yes it is too bad the mint is not selling rolls of other coins at a premium like they do with the SQ's, Kennedys and Sacs.. guess it hasnt dawned on them yet. Cant speak the quality you will get from Wells Fargo rolls. Your logic about the change in the Jeff nickel making them desirable makes sense but nothing is ever a sure thing in the coin market... may want to team up with another 'coin specific collector', someone that is looking for Sacs, Kennedys, SQ's, Roosies or Cents and you can pool your resources on Uncirculated and Mint Sets direct from the mint, split them up and share.

They've made only about 130 million so far this year. There are probably a billion
and a half in storage and 25 billion in circulation. These won't hit the local bank for
some time and could then sneek into circulation and get lost in so huge a number.
There will be others watching and attempting to get them too, so it won't go unno-
ticed. Keep checking at the banks. It helps to have a friend on the inside. Likely
the bulk will hit around Christmas time unless the new coins overtake them as they
do with the new states issues. There are always the mint sets....

There is a strong tendency for low mintage moderns to be saved in significantly high-
er numbers than the high mintage coins. Go figure...
