1946 DDR WALKING LIBERTY

Can anyone tell me the particulars on the reverse doubling? Thanks in advance.

  • JC - here is a previous thread on the 1946 DDR. The last one that I saw was owned by board member FIVECENTS - don't know if he still has it though.

  • Thanks Frank. I picked up a '46 in VF, and the feathers are doubled heavily. Can't really tell if it's just machine doubling or what. I'll have to dig it out and take a better look tomorrow.

    TWODOGS,
The doubling is easy to see in "E PLURIBUS UNUM", the eagles ankle, and the wing feather tips (on the right side of coin). I made a PCGS ms64 a couple of months ago.

    Frank,
Yep, I still own the coin.

  • Paul - could you post a pic of it - it's as strong as any DDR I've ever seen!

    Frank,

I don't have the coin with me, but will post a picture tomorrow.

  • Here`s another link ( pop-up alert ) that also describes it too.

  • My camera doesn't get close enough on the macro shots, unfortunately. I take back the VF, more like an F-12. Thought it was neat for $2.00.
