OK, I can't hold back from posting this toned Binion Baby

Scan came out pretty good, although the colors are very very vibrant, and a ton of luster. This is what we call "original" folks. And a little better date also.
Hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

That's a pretty Binion.
At the Edgewater Casino in Laughlin they have a big display of Binion Morgans - but none looked that that

What would happen to colors like this during conservation?
The NCS slab only says it is a genuine dollar and offers no grade. I fail to see the purpose with that.
Nice colors on this one!
Joe
I could look at these all day.

And I checked EVERY ONE.
That's one of the finest toned Binion's I've seen. Nice catch stman.
Actually, the ones coming up in NCS holders with no grades may not have been conserved. NCS offers two categories of services:
1. Professional Conservation
2. NCS Certification
The second one has two sub-categories:
Authentication and Encapsulation Only
Authentication and Details Grading
While it is possible they went through both tiers they most likely have problems (rim dings, harsh cleaning, etc.) that can not be "conserved" and would prevent them from being graded. Out of all the coins in the accumulation, there are bound to be some of these types. Now that the good stuff has been sold, they're moving into these.

Only to hunt down the seller after the show and buy it.
Beautiful coin. Is that textile toning on the lower left field, or just the scan?

I think it's just the scan. I don't see any textile on this one. I do have a Binion with textile tone that I've posted before. Thanks!

It will be interesting to see if people pay "stupid money" for these. I have seen many ugly, common date Binion MS63s go well over $100, which in my opinion is "stupid money". This doesn't take anything away from stman's coin, which is a beauty, and I would have paid a healthy premium for it too.
For your help, I will make an extra card and mail to the most valuable forum contributor with an informative good short writing on this that could fit on cards reverse, see my below auctions to see sample cards. My self and partners at
Tidewater Distributors Inc. will be the judge.

That's the only Binion I have seen that I would have put a bid on.
I personally think that the price for Binion's is going to go down in the future. But yours will alway's command a Hefty prem..
Not as pretty as your rainbow toned Bunion, but, hey, not everybody can afford the nice ones.
Ed
however, NOT market acceptable

There's also a pretty good book out on the sad Ted Binion story....Murder in Sin City or something like that.

K6AZ, glad you put up that link (I didn't link to it, but I'm sure it would be the one(s) I was thinking of; don't think anyone wants to "retype" the Binion story in this thread).
WH, thanks for touching on the NCS services. I was going to address that too, but you've done so very nicely. More than likely, they would have been BBed; so they seem to have been submitted for conservation to pu their "best face" on, considering how grotesque some of the other Binion dollars looked.
<< <i>Yes, one of the BEST lookin' Binion's I've seen, and a very nice '88 as it goes. Don't know if I'd say "better date", but definitely a "better graded '88". >>
Gilbert, while the 88 isn't a better date white, they are very tough to find with true rainbow toning. This one that stman posted is the nicest one of this date I have seen. I sold a rainbow 88 last month, though the bands and colors were not as intense.

You're welcome. That is actually a great site. When I get bored with coins, occasionally I'll go over there and read about my favorite gangsters. They have a great writeup on Al Capone and Elliot Ness.
