What recourse do I have when PCGS misses Full Steps

What recourse do I have when PCGS missed the full step designation on my nickels?

I am fully aware of what constitues a full step nickel and I have looked very closely at these 2 coins with my stereo microscope at 10x and 30x. Not even close to having any bridges.
The impossible just takes longer.

  • Black Knight. They have a Presidential Review process. Customer Service can explain it.

Is the presidential review service available to coins that have been graded in the past? I have a group of about ten FS nickels that PCGS didn't label as FS. Are the graders just too lazy to pick up their loupes?

Don't bother with the presidential review. Use the designation review service, which is cheaper and the appropriate way to submit to add a designation.

10X sounds like overkill to see full steps. Try using 5x.

It's obviously very important to you that PCGS gives you the FS, so resubmit it.

    That's the game.

    Enjoy.

Designation review is probably the best. Don't worry, it seems to be running rampant a little, I just got some back that were missing the designation, but are clearly fs.

  • Wow....you mean they "charge" on a recent submission where they missed one of the important criteria for grading the series? Seems to me a mistake on their plate should be eaten on their dollar.....including shipping both ways! Otherwise, it might be looked at by some that this is a good way to build in repeat business, and up their income.

Reminds me of a guy i worked for once when i asked for a modest raise. He said: "i up'd my income......up your's!" hehe

Pay up the ying-yang for another review. Complain (justifiably so) when they again screw it up. Repeat.

This is the part that really irks me. You pay the grading company good money for a professional opinion and it's faulty, or let's say it's an admin error, such as a mislabel... then you have to pay again for something that should have been done right the first time.

Obviously, the other side of the coin is one does not have to use their services...
