Ugh, did I make a stupid mistake or what?

I just turned down a 1951 and 1952 original mint set in original packaging, not put together at greysheet bid...with very pretty colors, not monster, but some and most were gorgeous looking. The coins were just average in quality...Franklins 64/65, Washingtons 65/66 (with one or two at shot 67), dimes 65/66, avg nickels, and pretty pennies but just 64/65. The one or two quarters being shot 67 just to me wasn't enough to tie up over $1100 for them so I passed. I began thinking about them after a while and it dawned on me 51 and 52 sets just don't come like that, so I got kind of depressed. image

Do you think I screwed up?

Not in the major-kind-of-screwed-up way, but you are describing some terrific coins there. A lot of bang for the buck (on a per coin cost basis).

No way you can try to make the deal still work?

ty, for the kind comments. I am trying to get ahold of the guy, to see if he still has them. Not sure if I will slab them as the grades won't really help. Maybe if I get them, I will try and photo, and we'll see. I have mostly only slabbed this kind of stuff for better grades with nice toning, not the other way around. So, if I get them and are able to post them, we'll see if you all think they are worth sending in. What kind of scared me away (not thinking they were fake at all, just uncertain) is that on a lot of them there was awesome toning on one side while there was majorly darker coal like toning on the other. For instance on the cents, most all of them have awesome crescent rainbow tone on one side, while the other side were almost solid brown or on there way.

We'll see, if it is meant to be, I'll get them back, although I am still sort of scared about the one side being dark on alot of them.

Early rainbow toned coinage from the fifties do well in PCGS or NGC holders- even in mid MS grades.

Do any of those cents look like your ICON?

Not quite like the icon, different, more rainbow crescent tone around the periphery.
