Count me as crazy. It is weird with coin collecting: The desire for coins does not diminish with age, it only gets stronger. Very few folks have even the slightest interest in coins.
when i was a kid, my dad who is now gone god love him, use to tell me iam crazy for buying old coins....now iam completely insane......only problem is i like it
I once paid 6,000,000 times face value for a IHC and the recent record for a small cent was about 21,000,000 times face for a lincoln. Must be some really crazy people out there.....the down side risk is.......what.......1 cent??
"My friends who see my collection sometimes ask what something costs. I tell them and they are in awe at my stupidity." (Baccaruda, 12/03).I find it hard to believe that he (Trump) rushed to some hotel to meet girls of loose morals, although ours are undoubtedly the best in the world. The person who purchased the 1933 double eagle was a cheap skate - only 350,000X face......

Sure it can, or can you tell me where I can exchange my Westphalia piece for a billion marks or a half billion euros? Or what about the people who owned trade dollars back in the early 1900's?
Just think of all the old time collectors, who did get a lot of killer coins at face, or a little more than face value. I think I'll go hide under a rock
Today's mighty oak is just yesterday's nut that held its ground.
Coincidentally I just got an ear full this morning about spending money on coins;"something that has no usefulness", "all you do is buy it and put it away". I guess I'm a little crazy too.
Some nine years ago when I met my better half, she was'nt into coins at all (except to spend them) many coin shows later and a new computer she just bought plus joining a few message boards has got her very interested in coins.Works for me!
Friends are Gods way of apologizing for your relatives.

Personally, I'm glad you're crazy.

I decided to switch and enjoy the classical coins. I am always amazed how a coin could survive in
gem condition with origonal toning from 1830. Every time I look at such a coin, I am amazed anew.
The delicate folds of the skirt of a Seated Liberty Coin and the curles in the hair are more like
a fine sculpture then a coin, especially with a full strike. But whatever a person chooses to collect,
we must be nuts. The money we are willing to spend scares even the bear at times.

I'm glad I have people like you, who understand and want to show and tell coins!
