Staining on tobacco cards

I was wondering if anyone can give me some insight as to what PSA's policy is and what your history has been with tobacco cards and grading...T-205-T207 types.

Will they grade down substantially or penalize a card badly for small specks of tobacco stains on the reverse. I have come across a card that I want to have graded...A very nice card that has some stains on the reverse. Otherwise it would grade really well as there are no creases and the corners are nice.

Any thoughts? Would I get the ST qualifier, or are they more relaxed on tobacco cards...since most have a great amount of damage.

I have a smiliar situation with 1900 cope's tobacco cards that show a residue from being placed in an albumn, although about 90 % of the set looks nm 7 on the fronts. Let me know what you find out.

  • With my past experience, they are fairly lenient on light spotting. If you're looking for an eight on a card, they will get pickier.

But if the staining is light, and you have a nice, EX-MT front, I don't think they'll drop the grade or put a qualifier on it.

I won and/or have submitted no less than 2000 pre-1920 cards. If you send me a scan I can tell you the exact grade not given Darth grader Et...
