I've had my fill of debate for a while, so newer collectors what do you enjoy collecting the most?

New to the hobby? Back in the hobby after a nunber of years?
What are your collecting interests?
The future of his hobby is you, not old guys like me
But i would love to hear from you about the wheaties you got at the store or the danco collections you got from grandpa. Or your impression of your first coin show.
Please share with us. barberlover

The President claims he didn't lie about taxes for those earning less then $250,000 a year with public mandated health insurance yet his own justice department has said they will use the right of the government to tax when the states appeals go to court.

Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the
moments that take our breath away.
My first and greatest love (aside from Mrs Bear) is the Standing Liberty Quarter.
When you see this coin in ultimate grade with maximum FH it is awesome in its beauty
and detail. The intricate hair and head piece, the folds in the gown the remarkable deep luster
its almost overwhelming. No matter how many may have, its never enough. I think I will buy these
coins as long as I collect. Bear

"France said this week they need more evidence to convince them Saddam is a threat. Yeah, last time France asked for more evidence it came rollin thru Paris with a German Flag on it." -Dave Letterman
The first time my dad gave me his coin collection and shared a hobby with me is one of very few happy memories i had as a kid. And i still get excited if i find a collector coin in pocket change.
While addressing grading concerns is important, it's not as important as the young collectors and i want no part in turning them off of a very enjoyable hobby. Les
Peace Dollars- Why? I don't know. Morgan's seemed too much of a challenge and Peace Dollars seemed simple. I hope to finish up this collecting within a month and then move onto Ike's, SBA and SAC's. Once I complete the above, I will move onto Morgan's.
Silver American Eagles- I was looking at my PCGS MS68 about a week ago and told my wife that I'd like to start a collection for my son. A Charity Auction and an online deal later and I'm halfway to completion.
Change- Jefferson's, Lincoln's, Roosevelt's, Washington's- So simple to collect... although not so simple to collect. Most of the years you can find in pocket change with exception to pre-64 silver. Sometimes I get lucky with pocket change sometimes. Hopefully when I complete each set (or as near as I can) I will decide to upgrade my collection to better quality coins.
Anything- As I come across something that is not in the above collections, I place it in my collection.

Suddenly, I'm feelin' kinda warm and fuzzy inside.... ahem... uh... ok, earth to Clark...
I'm currently trying to build a Kennedy set... purchasing has stagnated lately, but I do love the ones I have. Oh, and as a consequence of the pursuit of accented hairs, I've unintentionally got a small collection of '64 proof sets going (as many other board members do).
Eventually my interest faded, but at least my mother didn't throw out the coins (like she did my baseball cards). Right now, I have started to try to fill in the gaps, and work on the Proof sets that my Dad had continued to buy from the Mint after we had started the collection. I've upgraded my coins into Intercept Albums, but have started a new Lincoln set of duplicates in... you guessed it, the Whitman folders. I think it it a real kick. You can go hame again.
I have strayed a little into Brittanicas and British Trade dollars, and am still picking away at the box of coins that my Dad accumulated while he was in the Merchant Marines in the late 40's. Now that is some interesting stuff, but not applicable to this board.
When you are a kid, you don't care too much about the history of coins, so I really have enjoyed reading about them from my magazine subscriptions and books that I have purchased. Already having some of the coins that they write about has been fun.
But still that said I collect a little bit of everything else. I have the whole set of Susan B completed and I didnt even know I had it completed

Unfortunately my story is so cliche its boring. Getting into collecting was always on my list of things to learn about someday. Like most kids I was intrigued by the old coins we'd occaisionally find but it wasn't until I got that @$^$ Whitman album for the statehood quarters that I got sucked in. Well, it was that and having a strong desire for something new to get my mind focused on as I quit smoking (5+ weeks now!). Its been great for that. There's a lot to learn and its not something I ever associated with smoking so it works well.
To kind of wade in easy and get a broad understanding I'm putting together a 20th century type set (you can see my progress on it from the link in my sig). From there I'm sure I'll go into 19th centrury and probably some specific collection...perhaps Walking Liberty Halves. Love those things. Someone else mentioned Peace dollars. I really like those as well. They seem a little underrated. Actually I'd REALLY like a collection of the indian gold pieces but that's a bit out of price range at the moment.

"Over paid $40 for $95 coins." That is about right for my buying.
I started out last year with a very small group of coins that fit into a little box. Now I have three book shelves of coins and going for #100 EBay purchase. All postive, except that I still have a large pay:value ratio.
I love collecting proof and mint sets. There are remarkable sets and a lot of beautiful coins. I put them in Eagle holders and can drag them out anytime, especially when bidding on Ebay.
Best thing I did was join a Coin Club and got to meet some nice people and the second was to join the monthly swaps on the Coin Swap board.
If there is one thing i enjoy as much as finding a new coin for my collection, it's hearing the stories of new collectors or returning collectors about there collecting interests.
Please add to these new members thoughts with your own and lets all try to make new collectors feel welcome. barberlover
Oh yeah, I have started two of my coworkers in this hobby in the last two months..... Don't take much.
