Questions For People Who Had David Hall Look at Their Coins at Long Beach

Can someone please answer the following questions regarding D. Halls free evaluation service at the recent Long Beach Show?
1) Were most of the people in line dealers, collectors, or a combination of both?
2) Were most of the coins he was asked to evaluate raw, PCGS, NGC, or a combination of everything?
3) In your opinion, was the main point of this service to see if your certified coin(s) had the potential to upgrade or crossover, or simply to get his grade opinions on raw coins?
4) Assuming D. Hall said he thought your coin(s) had a good chance to crossover/upgrade, did you submit it to PCGS at the show? What was the result?
5) Was D. Halls response to most certified coins he looked at....."resubmit it and see what happens"?
If you can answer even 1 or 2 of the above questions, please respond, thanks.

mostly PCGS with a few NGC. I asked him if anything could upgrade and would the NGC cross over
in grade. He selected one coin to upgrade and two NGC Commemoratives to crossover in grade.
My final score was no upgrade but the two NGC coins crossed. They were the Grant MS-66 and the
BTW MS-66. Two out of the aint bad. I tried 6 coins on my own and went 0 for 6 on upgrades.

Here is what really got me mad:
He was looking at someone's coin ahead of me and called someone over and said to take the coin upstairs to be graded a ms66 (was in a 65 holder) and if did not grade a 66 he wanted a reason why.
How about giving everyone the same courtesy? especially me in my situation.

From what I saw, there were a fair amount of collectors, but the dealers seemed to abuse the service. Boxes of slabbed coins to be reviewed taking up a lot of time. I stood in line twice and there seemed to be a fair amount of slabbed coins when I was there - mostly PCGS coins.
I saw David give the grade of MS63 to one PCGS coin and then took off the tape covering the grade. PCGS had said MS64. David then said it was fine for the grade. Another time I guess the dealer was looking for upgrades out of a big box of coins. He handed David a PCGS coin and David looked at it for a few seconds and with a look like a disapproving father, he shook his head and handed it back without saying a word.
For my 3 coins, I asked if the NGC one would cross. I didn't think it would. David didn't think it would either.
One of the raw ones I wanted a grade opinion and to see if they would bodybag it. It was a copper piece that had been "lightly worked on". He gave a grade of AU50 (which is also what NGC had said and ANACS - who had bodybagged the coin before the work). I then specifically asked about a bodybag and he didn't think it would be bagged.
The third coin I just wanted a grade. I purchased it raw at the show. The dealer said MS65 and I agreed. I showed it to ANACS and they said MS64. I know they are tight with their verbal grades at the show, so I showed it to David. He said MS65. Then he added the horrible, if it isn't artificially toned.
Overall, I liked the service. Without hearing his opinion, the NGC coin I showed him would NOT have been submitted. It was only going to be submitted if he thought it would cross. I would not have submitted the copper piece either without hearing his opinion. After all, I already knew it would slab at NGC and I wouldn't have risked a bodybag at PCGS. The San Diego was always going to NGC because of its "look".
Overall, PCGS got more submissions out of me thanks to his offering this service.
It was also nice to meet David.

I think it would easily cross to PCGS MS63. However, you'd have to be an idiot to do that.

I don't know.... Well, go ahead a tell us, but you have to understand we are going to grade your story much tougher because it is in another show and not the preferred show. However, were you to submit your story to us raw (without mention of the show) we could give it a fair rating.
