Did I damage thie coin?

Last week a friend returned from London with a 2000 Queen's Jubilee 5 pound silver coin for me. It appeared to be uncirculated and in a small plastic bag and was purchased from a post office. A third friend who knows nothing about coins got his paws on it and rubbed the crap out it with his fingers before I could wrestle it from his grip and pound him into submission. My question is how do I remove the finger grease smudges without damaging the coin? It's not a high value coin and it's probably an MS-63 at best. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Gino
