Who are the really important people in the coin industry

BearBear Posts: 18,953 ✭✭✭
It must be us. The poor little schnooks who collect the coins, buy from the dealers

and support an industry that grows every year. On this important Forum(Thank you PCGS),

we express the views, opinions, recommendations and observations clearly and bluntly.

We tell the dealers what we like, why we like it and what we dont like about something and why.

We praise the dealers we know who exhibit the knowledge, integrity, wisdom and kindness

we as collectors value and appreciate. Within all of the hair pulling, pinching, name calling

and scratching, is the collective wisdom and answeres from the smartest most savvy collectors

on the planet. Its us, the poor little schnooks, that make it possible for all of the big coin industry

to function, grow and prosper.

    Who,you ask?

I`d say by the posting that Homerunhall did last nite, they are NOT the folks who post here,I`d say.

At least that`s what I got out of it.image
A dealer once asked me if I noticed any three-legged buffalos on the bourse,to which I replied,"...no,but I saw alot of two-legged jackasses..."

The President claims he didn't lie about taxes for those earning less then $250,000 a year with public mandated health insurance yet his own justice department has said they will use the right of the government to tax when the states appeals go to court.

Dont think I havnt been getting PMs and phone calls. But the Forum dealers who were kind, friendly and

helpful to me before I started my buying rampage, are now reaping the benefits .

  • The most important people in numismatics are the collectors who create the demand. If there were no demand for coins, then they would be worth the greater of face value or melt. I only wish that more of my colleagues would recognize that fact before they turn their back on the public or are rude to them.
PNG member, same identity as Julian, a veteran numismatic dealer since 1965. Operates a retail store, also has exhibited at over 1000 shows.

I firmly believe in numismatics as the world's greatest hobby, but recognize that this is a luxury and without collectors, we can all spend/melt our collections/inventories.

  • Bear,

I don't need to be adopted by you. I am enriched by your participation in these forums.

We all are important. Some of us are more important than others of us, but we're all important.

Collectively, without us, the collectors, the dealers aren't crap. And they know it. Sometimes you can see it in their eyes. Pure fear.

So bear how is life without the Jelly Donuts? image
  • BearBear Posts: 18,953 ✭✭✭
Robert, its real hard on me. I hang around Winchels just to smell the

fry grease. If I am real lucky, someone will throw away a

half eaton jelly donut. But the people always seem to suck all the

jelly out. Life is just not what it used to be.image

True, the under 18 people have always been and will always be, the future of the coin market

and this land of ours.I believe our nation will be in good and noble hands ,when our young

people take the political, economic, industrial and scientific reigns of this nation. They will create

and build and defend what is good and right ,just as our generation did and as our forfathers did.

Bedtime for the bear, nite nite all.
