Ever changing designs...NOT!

I received my oldest proof set this weekend. A 1964. I purchased this set from Itsnotjustme. Great fella. Anyhow, I started looking closely at the designs and realized that the quarter design has been augmented almost every year. There seem to be deepened hair, crisper edges, on the reverse the eagle has better feathers the newer they are. Anyone else notice this also?

  • One of these days I am still going to take a couple better pictures to illustrate it. image Nothing beats looking at them together in person though. You can really tell the difference then.

  • Very interesting article -- I was trying to grade my collection of circulated silver nickels the other day and was using an uncirculated 2000 nickel as a comparison to see how much wear there was. I realize now I was dinging them too much for having wearer hairlines, when that's how they're supposed to look!
