Another 'toned' mushroom just popped up!

Check him out on ebay.....under the ebay handle tonecoin2003.

I suspect it's easyman, aka bbycoin. What do you guys think?

  • Yep,
That's bbycoin (I think he's easyman's pal, and not actually easyman himself).

  • In the flesh. Boy people can get a new ebay handle and start over quick! He probably already has several others ready to go at a moments notice. image

  • The "2003" in his handle refers to the year in which the coins were toned.

Looks like he knew what was coming; he had that handle registered nearly a month before he got NARU'd.

People rarely get permanently NARUed. Usually, it is just a suspension as punishment for bending the rules (usually, not paying your bill or shilling bids). It is against eBay rules to open a new account during the suspension. However, it is not against the rules to start (or resume) trading under a separate account activited prior to the suspension. The ones that have been suspended a few times figure this out and keep a few dormant accounts.

What I find amazing is, they may have a new handle and a new screen design, but the coins look the same. You know who they are pretty quick.

nah, they just teach em all this same MO in art class for hack coin docs, even down to the certified "bait" coins, you know, the ones with high reserves, the ones that just dont look the same as ALL the MANY SIMILAR looking raw coins, which start at 25 bucks each, and which are just common date sliders with makeup on arent they.

edited to say: went back to see other auctions, damn those are ugly! and the same wording as before same ALL CAPS. he makes it look EASY

  • Dog97, I hope Im wrong about this but the one you said that looks almost real? Could it be that the one which you think is real and which you are estimating bbycoins against is just an enhanced coin which has been done by someone who has been doing it a long time and is a whole lot better at it than this guy. This enhanced toning thing was started a long time ago. It became real "hot" (pardon the pun) when slabbing became the way to go (by 1989). So weve had the modern coin doctors with us since then and some of them are very, very good at it! Ive seen lots of coins in PCGS and NGC holders which I wonder about! Who really knows for sure. Only the shadow knows and he aint talking.image

Shouldnt AT coins be aged like fine wine.

In an Oak barrel or something like that?

But, Bear, if the toning were "aged" than it would be natural.image

eagle7 asks: Dog97, Could it be that the one which you think is real and which you are estimating..........
Possibly, eagle7. I look at a lot of Morgans on eBay and I've noticed that when these sellers first start selling this junk the coins are no-brainer AT with splotches and spots of unnatural colors with unnatural patterns then they seem to get the hang of it and their coins seem to smooth out and look better as they sell more & more.
Of course this seller may not be an evil coin doctor. With the hundreds of AT coins sold on eBay recently it's safe to assume they will start turning up for sale again from different sellers with different pictures.
I didn't say this coin's tone was real I said it looks "almost" real. image
