  • In this case here, I'm sure you get what you pay for. Out of my league also.

I love looking at his auctions and I can't afford the slabs, let alone the coins. :-) It is a great place to go and know I will see coins I rarely get a chance to see except maybe at the one or two decent shows that come within 50 miles of me. His descriptions are often very good also.

  • Adrian focuses on high-end and extraordinary material. Very rarely does that translate into cheap, although I've seen him buy some stunning half cents before that would retail for about $500. That being said, if you can find him at a show, he'll spend all afternoon showing you his cool stuff.

  • tjkillian i don't know what grade that coin is but i love it and I'm sure it wasn't "cheap" if it was i would gladly buy it from you.image

Indiana i feel the same way you do i look at his coins and leave my computer crying because i know i'll never be able to afford any of the coins he sells.

Cheap is definately a relative term, but you might try buying the coin before Adrian does to eliminate the mark-up. You just have to figure out where or from whom he gets them.
  • You just have to figure out where or from whom he gets them.

Same way as anyone else. Hoofing it at the shows and making a reputation as someone who will pay top dollar for quality pieces.

  • Hey Dudes. Thanks for all the kind words. You humble me. Probably not enough, but any step in the right direction is a step in the
    right direction.

I'll try to list some cheap but cool coins. The problem is several fold, firstly the cheaper they are the less cool they become. Secondly, i
have quite a few really expensive coins that keep calling my name to be listed and so it is not economically rational for me to list cheap
coins when i have expensive ones to list. But, i'll see what i can do about listing some cool coins at low buy it now prices and/or with
low reserves. Hang with me for a few days, as i have a few things that i do have to get up.

Here's a pic of an ngc 66 texas i sold last year. It went with me to Cancun, Mexico (along with a monster blue isabella in ngc 58)....you
know, drop by the mail box on the way to the airport, pick up coins you can't leave with the person who brought you to the airport.......

I ran across its image when it came up on the screensaver i have on a laptop in my home office which runs most of the time.

  • Better yet, get to the coins before i get to them, hammer the seller on price and sell them to me for the amount i would have paid the sellers.

[I usually go easy on sellers who come to me with monsters as i want them to bring the monsters to me (knowing of course, that i won't hammer them on price) so if you can hammer them first you can then sell them to me.]

Morganluver is right, it is just plain garden variety work that gets the stunners.

Beating the bushes, letting people know you pay insane money for the very best, and paying insane money for the very best.

Get a good library. Then you just take good pictures, write some decent crap to go along with it, and let it roll.

    Anyone can do it.

I recently bought a coin, an 83-cc ms66dmpl from Adrian. Although I thought at the time the coin was not cheap, he extended a kind offer of a payment plan. It is beautiful, wouldn't consider selling even though I see one now on Ebay, which the owner wants 1 1/2 times what I paid for mine. And it doesn't compare.
There are ways to afford his coins.
    Thanks Adrian for that coin!!!

I can't say I've ever bought a 'cheap' coin from Adrian, but I have bought a number of pieces from him that I considered good values. Adrian handles the best and every deal we've ever done has been smooth!!

Also, it doesn't to matter to him if you don't want to talk coins.....he'll talk about ANYTHING!!!image

I see..........my favorite Cohibas are the Siglo III's and the Lanceros. I had a vintage 1995 Sancho Panza Belicoso the other night that nearly made me pass out, very powerful.
  • Adrian,

I've never seen Adrian list a "cheap" coin. Inexpensive - occasionally, but never cheap. He'll frequently list coins under $1000. It looks like he has about 15 now. You just can't expect these to be top notch monsters.

I've said this many times, the one coin I purchased from him is still my favorite coin. I've got lots more that are rarer or cost more, but they just don't compare.

You have to pay for quality, butwhen you go to sell, others will pay you for that quality. How much will you get for your so-so common coin 10 years from now?
  • Nice guitar listing. Didn't know that you were a guitar kind of guy as well. Was this one of yours, or are you listing it for someone else?

  • Hey now I didnt mean that Anaconda should put junk cheep coins on. If he did I woulnt be able to drool over what he shows us. And I wouldnt want to deprive him of his money he makes one those toned monsters. I Just think he has some awsome awsome coins. Kinda makes me jellious I dont find them before he does. Its just when I look at his, and then look at mine they look so homely compaired to his.
