<< <i>Ok, here's a perfect opportunity to ask...does it really look like the picture? >>
and here is the answer. Actually I think the dime looks much better in person than the picture dipicts it. When I had the dime I tried and tried to capture the color it really has and failed miserably. The auction pictures still do not catch the vibrant colors on the reverse of this coin. The seller did better than I did with the colors but the "Real Life Look" is still not there. His description of the reverse is very true. You would have to look long and hard to find a dime that has color like this one.
BTW. I was just waiting for this coin to hit Ebay to see exactly how it would be presented to the public. One thing I have learned from this is that a coin for the most part Must have some color before you can show the color.
You are correct about the tilting part. Actually you do not have to tilt the coin but just rotate it and the colors come out at you. Looking head on you see some of the color but not all of it, some rotation of the coin is needed. That is why I had such a hard time taking a picture of the coin.
<< <i>Ken- and now for the bigger question... Why the heck did you ever sell that one?! >>
Pat being a capitalist it was bought just for resale with hope of some profit. It actually worked for once. The coin as I said was real pretty but not really the type of tone I like. Also I think I have four of this date and something had to go.
Man, I'll never figure this toning stuff out. That one looks fake as hell to me.
Edited to note that I wasn't questioning the authenticity of the color on this coin, only pointing out my complete inability to tell one way or the other.
