Nick: Great idea to clear out the extras!! First, it gives newer collectors an oppotunity to capture some real prizes for their collections! Second, it puts a couple bucks in your pocket to better compete with me for the MONSTER DIMES that come up from here imageimageimage

Good luck. I like the Blue on the 1947S MS68 coin alot. The Blast white 50D MS68 really looks to be sweet too (for a white coin).

  • Just scored this '48-S with a 8-second snipe.

Happy to add to your "Battle Bucks", Nick. You're going to need them if you're battlin' Mitch! image
Looking forward to recieving a "Monster" Roosie from you. image

Don, Thanks for the "Battle Bucks", The war chest is growing and I'm going to need every bit of it if I'm going to take on the
Godfather of Roosies. I just pulled out the 48S and now I know why it was in my keepers box. I have a 48S in PCGS MS68,
NGC MS68 and another one in NGC MS67*. Other then the one you won being a one sided toned coin it is technically better
then any of the other 3 I have. I should have left all those dimes in my keepers box instead of puting them on eBay. Its the
only one of the 4 that has full split reverse bands. If at anytime within the next decade you wish to return it I would be more
then happy to refund all your money.

Don, How about I just buy it back from you now. I'll give you $155 right now for it. The offers good for 2 days. Thats a 15%
profit over night. What do ya say.....All I need to see is the words done deal. image

Anyone else here beginning to sense Nick is "spinning his wheels" and starting to "get sloppy" now the the heat has been turned on?

I don't know Mitch, That last phrase leads me to believe you might be getting a little worried, image I'm just a lowly little
collector trying to battle one of the big boys..... image Is it me or is it getting a slight touch warmer around here!!

WOW ! Four p8 roosies in 90 days? That is tremendous!
  • onlyroosiesonlyroosies Posts: 3,299 ✭✭✭✭
Just for the record, It actually took 18 days. I'll probably not see another PC 8 Roosie on the market for months or even years,
Especially now that you (Mitch) know I'm lurking and digging around. It was easy when I was able to sneak up behind you...image
    Not any more!!!imageimage
  • Hey Nick,

Thanks for the offer, but I'd prefer the dime. image
'48 happens to be my wife's and my birth year. Craig already fixed me up with sweetly toned P & D mints(PCGS MS67), and this one will complete the threesome. I hope to get it in a PCGS holder and, from what I've heard, that should be no problem.
Get that puppy in the mail! LOL

    I guess I need 2 Frankies now(plus Linckies & Jeffies)! image

    Don,
I've yet to see an NGC "STAR" coin that wasn't fantastic! That's a great score on this 48-S and I bet you'll like it even more upon its arrival.
    Nice.
  • onlyroosiesonlyroosies Posts: 3,299 ✭✭✭✭
Don, If it doesn't cross to PCGS and you don't want to keep it I'll take it back for a full refund. I know PCGS is a
little hard on one sided toned coins.

might be able to come out of this with a free coin..image

  • You guys are crackin' me up! image
I'm surprised, Mitch, that you didn't bid on the coin, or even that you two didn't get together before Nick listed them. image

As you stated, Mitch, Nick's idea does make sense...if I was buying the plastic. Heck, I'd be savin' on crossing fees, to boot! But I brought up both coins for comparison, and there doesn't seem to be any.
The NGC coin seems to have much greater eye-appeal (not to mention that Nick said as much). I think I'll stick with the Roosie soon to be in hand. Thanks for the "good feeling" 'bout the coin! image
Of course, Mitch, if you had a nice MS67 Washington (say a '48-S) that you would accept a trade on... image

Thanks for your input, Craig & Pat. They played a part in my decision makin'. image

And to think, I once owned that very 48S RAW in a book with 47 toned others that I sold to Nick for $300. Nick, how many MS67's came out of that book I sold you including the 48S* (and how many were also * coins) ??????

  • onlyroosiesonlyroosies Posts: 3,299 ✭✭✭✭
Craig, I got 5 MS67's with 3 getting the star. Lets not forget I also made a 47S 68* that came out of that book too.
Some of my most prized Roosevelt's including the ultimate 1946 NGC MS69* have all originated from colorfulcoins.

Such collections are rare since few cared about late date coins when they were
issued because they were percieved to be common and such a set could always
be assembled "later". Now half a century "later" we are finding that the coins were
not set aside. Clads would be even tougher if not for the rapidly disappearing mint
    sets.

  • I recieved the '48-S today, and will vouch for NGC's "*". Awesome coin, Nick. Along with the P & D that I got from Craig, my '48 dimes are set. You could call them the "Awesome Threesome"! image

Thanks again, Craig and Nick. image
