What's Wrong With This Coin and NTC??

Please take a look at Ebay Item # 3004309799 and see if you can tell what if anything is odd about this coin, and why would a piece like this be in an NTC holder. I don't mean the obvious rim ding.

    Could be:

    1- Artificially frosted
    2- Hairlined to hell
    3- Cleaned
    4- Whizzed
    5- Puttied
6- In need of dip- what is the haze hiding?
    7- A deceiving scan
    8- All of the above
9- I can't figure it out, but it is in an NTC holder for a reason, I swear!

Those devices are really frosty.........unusually so for a 90-CC. Am I getting close?

If women can use cosmetics to enhance beauty, why cant coins

do the same thing. Morgan dollars got feelings you know. They should always be allowed

to look their best. A little artificial frost here, a little polish there and shazam, perfection.

Lets cut through the chaff, OK. image

    1. The coin is in an NTC slab
    2. The coin is being peddled by Centsles

All the rest is just details - you can go to the dump and turn around, or you can stay and sort through the garbage. Please excuse my blunt demeanor.image

It sure is frosty. Really frosty. DCAM proof-type frosty. Too bad it looks like he frosted under the chin and got too much acid near the BUS*UNU.

Wow, that poor coin looks stange. The devices are just too white. There should be some toning there too. The sad thing is some sucker is buying it for a lot thinking he is getting a great deal. Wait until he shows it to someone who knows coins!

    Ethics question:
I have corrosponded with the high bidder of this auction in the past as he purchased a coin from me. Would it be unethical to "warn" him about this particular auction? image

Rick- Perhaps you can suggest he look into reading the PCGS message boards. Maybe even join here. You can then link him to this thread??!! image

He bids some heavy duty money, over $90,000 at Casper coins, and if he were doing business with me, I would want to "take care of him". Just my opinion. image
  • I don't understand the controversy. MS65 DMPL in an NTC holder. Anybody want to crack it and submit to PCGS or NGC?
