Have the '64 Kennedy PF-69 UCAM's become this cheap?

I'm really surprised to see this quality of coin from a good seller selling this cheap, with NO bids, with less than 2 days to go.

Are these selling for these prices now?

  • Huh...I think it is expensive for such a common coin.

These routinely sold for $1,500.00 in true PR69DCAM not too long ago.

What holds back NGC, just a little is Collectors now want the " * " on the coin label! Some how without the STAR the coin can't have that super Eye Appeal.
I don't know. This one looks prettty good to me.
Secondly, maybe no one wants to invest the $500.00 and see this one only cross to a PCGS PR68CAM (a much, much cheaper coin!) or something along those lines.

It's pretty hard to tell if this coin is selling for this price until it's actually been sold. You don't know how many people have it on their snipe list. The starting bid is $500..... so what? Sellers list coins worth hundreds of dollars with starting bids of $0.99 all the time, and by the time it's over they get out of it whatever the market dictates... or, they cancel the auction.

  • c'mon Clark... get with the program.

It's a full moon - and the market has tanked. So it has been written. So it shall be done. image

    and...
lest you get your panties in a bunch... I'm joking - so get over it. (not YOU, Clark)
  • Dan,

Thanks for setting me straight. Geezsk! I really don't know what I was thinking... just out of touch, I guess. image

Your value was more in line with recent expectations. I was truly surprised by the initial bid of only $500! At the time the coin had no bids with less than 2 days to auction close.

Now, the auction has closed with only the one bid of $500. Final selling price for a 1964 NGC PF-69 UCAM Kennedy was only $500! I was really surprised the coin didn't draw more interest at that price level. image

No doubt that buyer picked up a great deal, especially if he can cross it into a PCGS holder where he might double his money on it.
Then again, what stopped the seller from doing so?

I have a few NGC slabbed '64 Kennedys and was watching this one the entire time. Two things stopped me from bidding:

    1. I don't have an extra $500 at the moment.
    2. The obverse does not look, even to me, like a drop dead, ultra deep cameo. If it crosses, it's the buy of the year. If it's a 69 Cameo, it's about $150-200. JMHO.

Braddick- Just wondering.....why do you feel the need to repeat the "need" to cross the coin to a PCGS holder? Personally, I'm quite happy to keep all of my NGC holdered coins. In fact, with Rick Montgomery's statement about tougher standards, I contemplated buying the coin and sending the coin to NGC for a grade guarantee. If the coin makes the guarantee, it comes back in the new NGC Airtight holder. My personal opinion is collectors/dealers in the future will find the new NGC Airtight holder synonomous with the "Montgomery-age" grading standards of NGC. I know there is some REAL "IF" in that statement, however, in the future it may well bring the value of NGC Airtight holder coins and your favored "*" labeled coins up to price par with the PCGS holder. Just a thought for consideration.
