Been doing some more updates to my web site including, for you slab haters (hi Karl!), adding some raw coins. Those can be found linked in the Misc Stuff section.

But, the big thing today is that I added a reference page for the Accented Hair variety of the Kennedy Half dollar, complete with pics.image Now, without further doo doo, I present for your reading pleasure:

Everything you ever wanted to know about the Accented Hair, but were afraid to ask!

  • Thanks for the info, Russ. Kinda wondered what all the fuss was about with that. (not that I collect the kennedy).

I do, however, love your walkers. I just started a walker registry set myself (albeit with lower grade walkers. . . for now).

    Good info!

Possibly the "transiltional variety" is scarcer than the AH or normal varieties??

Russ: great job, pictures & information. I got a kick out of the proof set. First I clicked on the regular 64, then next for the A/H, back, forward, back, forward, back, forward. Repeat as necessary. You'll see some subtle differences on the obverse and reverse. I noticed the difference on the top of the shield over the eagle.

Compare the '64 to the '76 and you see the expression go from a slight grin to a more serious look. Back, forward, back, forward. Great way to see the numerous changes that have been made over the last 38 years.

In my book the '64 and the A/H Kennedys are my classics; the '65 - 2002's are my moderns. imageimage
