Here's a Hoosier native (Indianapolis Ben Davis HS and IU) who will be there in spirit! Muncie ... home of Ball State, David Letterman's alma mater. I went to school at IU with his sister. Imagine a female Dave Letterman ... she's a dead ringer! My sister and one of my brothers still live in the Indy area (Brownsburg) and I get back there often. I never miss the Indy 500 and Brickyard 400. Kind regards ....
I got out of IU in '77. That I know of, board member JTryka is an IU alum, as well. As a journalism major -- and one-time reporter for The Indianapolis News -- I spent most of my time at Ernie Pyle Hall next to the Union. Some sweet bball teams back then, too, losing one game in two years and being perfect in 76. Loved sitting in Assembly Hall watching Benson, Buckner, May, Green, Laskowski, etc. Last year brought back some fond memories ...
I am attending the local show in South Bend today so I won't be there. Tell them to advertise their show in coin world. I graduated from Ball State in 71 and IU in 83. Letterman was a Sigma Chi and I spent lots of time there because my friends pledged Sigma Chi. He was always the entertainment at parties. Let's just say he was not a personable guy and leave it there. Janis from 3's Company graduated the same year I did and she was a riot to be around. She was from Speedway. Anyway have a good time.
RGL, I didn't know any Indianapolis people were in here. I'm a fellow Indy boy but I went to North Central. We didn't exactly like you Ben Davis boys. You kick our butts too many times in football. RGL. I didn't attend last year ( out of state ) but I heard people over in Ohio had went and were inpressed. Not sure how many tables, quite a few tho. EDIT: I called and they have 63 tables including 7 stamps tables.
I thought Ray said at the meeting Tuesday that it was 65 tables. It's not a bad show, can't remember the name of the convention center it's held at. The show is sold out and there is a (short) waiting list for tables so it is a moderately popular show. I will be there for most of the day. I'm a member of the Muncie club.
BTW I just got back from the local show in South Bend. It was the busiest show that they have had in 3 years, people were standing behind others just to get to the tables. As some one labeled it the common date junk was being gobbled up. Maybe the market is strong. In an hour I picked up a gem 1937 D/D buffalo with the prettiest gold and pink toning, a 1910 liberty nickel MS63 with rainbow toning around the obverse edge and an 1881 MS63 red/brown toned IHC. I now have 5 of that date, one slabbed and the rest vf-ms63, just can't resist a pretty IHC.

All of my brothers and sisters went to Penn - my parents moved to South Bend after I left for IU. I lived there for a few years myself and am still right down the road in Portage. I'm kind of out of the loop coin show-wise so drop me a PM next time there's a nearby show. I'd like to meet up with some board members as I've never been to a show.
barracuda, South Bend has a small show middle Saturday and Sunday of every month. Its at the Comfort Suites on 31 North, just North of Cleveland RD. Usually runs Saturday 10-5 & Sunday 10-3.
My thoughts were, it was a nice show and I did not run into any rude dealers in fact I thought most were very pleasant and helpful. In the time I was there I didn't hear any compaints from customers or dealers. I only bought a couple toned indian head cents, but they were low grade. Most of the common coins seem to me to be in the lower grades, like barbers,morgans etc.. I did think some coins were over priced for the grade.I didn't get there until 1:00 and it was busy, but slowed down around 3:00. One major dealer from our area was Silver Towne, from Winchester, In. I believe there were 65 dealers there with some from out of state. I did find one trade dollar that caught my eye but it was ACG and priced at $1800. The same dealer had a lot of slabbed coins by ACG and NTC. I'm not into mercury dimes but what I saw seem very nice, although I didn't check for prices. My brother in-law sold some coins and he purchased some dimes for his collection and I think he bought a platinum coin too.
It was ok, not real busy. Could look at almost any table w/o a line. I was discouraged by all the ACG slabs though. I walked away empty handed, I couldn't find anything reasonable. First time ever.
Picked up a nice conder token and added three more slabs to the reference set. a relatively common ACG variety, a rare(?) INL 2 and an example of an ICI 2 which is a variety that I just saw for the first time two weeks ago and which is NOT in the first edition of the book. I saw an example of another company using the ACG encapsulation service but didn't feel like paying $20 for a common state quarter. Might have been a mistake on my part. Found out that there are 14 companies so far using the service.
Dangit I never made it there I got a little sick with this awful coughing thing (bronchitist or how ever its spelled). Here it is Monday and I still have it. Well were into the 3rd full week of the year and it already sucks for me
