Got a education at the FUN show re: loupes. I espoused my ignorance in a earlier thread about loupes and was wrong. Bob at All American Coins sold me a Ziess 3,6,9X loupe and what a difference a quality loupe makes! "previewing" the coin is 3X is wonderful. Turns out I was grading with a "throw-away" loupe! If you need one, contact him. They are hard to find otherwise. Price $110

(Baccaruda, 12/03).I find it hard to believe that he (Trump) rushed to some hotel to meet girls of loose morals, although ours are undoubtedly the best in the world. Quality does make a difference.

The more qualities observed in a coin, the more desirable that coin becomes!

canyons and mountain ranges on the coin after people in your family.

There was an article in a recent Longacres Ledger with images from a scanning electron microscope - it was wild! They were trying to figure out if a silvery area on a IHC was nickle or what. Turns out it was applied solder - looked like a plateau on the coin where it landed on the bronze.
<< <i>You can even name some of the canyons and mountain ranges on the coin >>
Yes, use enough magnification and light and you can find flaws on ANY coin. Its easy to turn a MS66 into a mangy dog at 60X. Does this just go to show that all our grading and associated pride in our high grade coins is just a function of a 3/4 " diameter eyeball? Maybe to owls and other creatures with exceptional eyesight our coins just look like canyons and mountains and mangy dogs?
Then again, who cares what owls think?
I've had great luck with telescope eyepieces used as magnifying glasses for coins - plus you look a little weird - and I like weird.
