1865 3cn RPDs are cool , I have a few. ANACS is by far the most intune with die varieties.
    Good luck.

Don't you mean that they should be back in a few MONTHS? If you used economy, then be prepared to wait a LONG time.

Greg is right, economy is 5 weeks.

I thought ANACS had some special 10-10-10( ten coins, ten days, ten dollars each coin)? they might come back in a few weeks. mike image

At least one person I spoke to last week said he had coins in there for 7 weeks. I haven't heard anything from him yet, so I assume they still didn't come back.

Seven weeks 4 days for my last economy submission. I called after 6 weeks, and they said they were ready to grade. Great folks, but slow as death.image

I sent my coins in on the 10-10-10 special. Their WEB page usually states that attributions are not included. It did not so I printed it off and sent the page in with my submission. Their WEB page now shows the added messege. My guesses on grades are as follows:

1857 Flying Eagle 1 cent VERY FINE 20
    1928-D Lincoln 1 cent MS63 RB
    1944-D Lincoln 1 cent MS63 RB
    1960-D Lincoln 1 cent MS63 RED
    1998 Lincoln 1 cent MS65 RED
    1865 Three cent nickel FINE
    1937-D Buffalo 5 cent MS63
    1938-D Buffalo 5 cent MS64
    1942-D Jefferson 5 cent VERY FINE 30
    1888 Morgan $1 MS60

ANACS is usually slow but this time my submission turned around pretty quick.

Received by ANACS 12/3 - picked them up today from the Post Office - 20 days total on their 10-10-10 special

I'm going to send another batch out before 1/12 when the special ends.

I like ANACS, but they hammer my coins. Much tougher then PCGS!

I only send them cheap toned coins I don't know how to grade when they have their specials. They did surprise me though. Sent them a 84 toned Morgan that I thought was an AU 55, came back MS62.

By the way, they are horrible on modern proofs. Hard to get even a 68 and even tougher to get a DCAM while almost every coin I send to PCGS is a DCAM.

Ya, it didn't say "US coins only" originally either. I sent in a batch of foreigns. They called (which was nice) and told me they'd be happy to process it as an economy submission. I agreed, but still not pleased with the changing terms. At a 50% discount to PCGS World Economy (and no $99 "club" membership fee), I'm sure I'll get over it, though. Think I'm going to send in a batch of moderns for $7 before that special runs out (or the terms change suddenly image) 30% discount to PCGS modern service (and did I mention no $99 "club" membership fee image)

Crito, so basically they told you that they wouldn't honor their original terms and to make up for it they offered you the same deal that everyone else in the world gets and you were OK with this?

I'm sorry, but if it doesn't say no world coins for the special and you submit them, they should honor it. If they wanted to make up for it, they should have processed them under their 10 day service. It's still better for them than the 5 day service that would cost only $5 more.

As for PCGS, you can take the coins to a dealer and not pay the club fee. Or you can do what a lot of forum members seem to do and that is send them to other forum members that did pay for the club. image

I'm sure it was an honest omission on some web designer's part. All I really care about is the money, when it comes to coins I resell, anyways. I'm sure David Hall can relate. 30%-50% more in my pocket, that much less in his. And to be honest, when it comes to the coins I submit for my personal collection, I could care less what slab it's in. As long as they get the label right, that is.

Excellent penetration results. I would also recommend that you scan the 3cn RPD. It would be
a welcome educational tool on RPDs. I love three cent nickels.

  • I'm interested to know why you picked ANACS over say PCGS or NGC.....cost, convenience of sending direct, trust in their grading, slab size ???. Trying to get a feel for how folks really feel about ANACS.

I ask out of curiosity and not slamming ANACS....I sent a couple of my circulated CC Morgans to them and got exactly what I expected.

    Paigow,

All of those coins are attributed- I'm almost positive PCGS wouldn't give nearly that many attributions, if any of them at all.

First NGC would have attributed 100% of these coins the same way but at a cost of $30 a coin. PCGS would have only attributed the 1942-d/horizontal d and maybe the morgan plus being $30 a coin!!! Both NGC & PCGS would have bodybagged the 1857 Flying eagle!!!

what does it cost to have coins (varieties) slabbed at ANACS?
  • gmarguligmarguli Posts: 2,225 ✭✭

Actually, you could have gotten them done at NGC for $18. Their economy service is $15 and their variety attribution is $5. However, they'll give you 10% off is you submit using the online form, so it works out to $18.

They are having some specials at ANAC's link!. The specials usually do not include attribution of varieties. I caught their WEB site when it did not state this so I got the last 10 coins at $10 each but normally they are $16 plus shipping if you know the variety and it is correct. If you want them to do the research it will cost another $5 per coin!

They charge $10 for slabbing and $1 for variety attribution.

  • << <i>Both NGC & PCGS would have bodybagged the 1857 Flying eagle!!! >>

Did you think the eagle was cleaned when you sent it in ???

I'm considering sending in a 93-CC that could probably go F-15/VF-20, depending on if the grader is in a good mood.
  • I sent a batch off to ANACS economy on Nov. 16th. Still waiting! Twowoodimage
  • bigtonydallasbigtonydallas Posts: 1,126 ✭✭✭
I did not think the Flying eagle was cleaned. I sent my coins in on the 10-10-10 special which normally does not allow attributions. Some one at ANACS forgot to put that and I printed it and sent along with my submissions.

<< <i>I sent a batch off to ANACS economy on Nov. 16th. Still waiting! >>

Heh -- me too. I also sent a batch in with their 10/10/10 special toward the end of November, and got those back on Christmas Eve. But in November I couldn't resist their $7 modern special.

Note: "10 days" in ANACS-speak really means "one month". Figure one week shipping there, then two weeks (10 business days) being graded, then one week shipping back.

I sent off another 10/10/10 batch on January 4th. I'm expecting it back February 3rd. And I'll bet my economy package from November will have still not arrived image -- 's'ok, wasn't anything critical or expensive....

I sent a bunch Economy on November 13th. I got them back about three days ago. image

I got an MS68 on one Soviet 10-rouble commemorative, though! image
