Let's hope this seller gets his price!

For those of you who have bought unmarked, unopened GSA dollars from me in the past, I thought you'd enjoy seeing this one....especially his asking price.

Don't know how to do the linky thing, but the ebay number is 805457459.

my understanding is that a few highly collectible Barbie dolls ended up getting sent out in those GSA sales...

OK, anybody who pays $1.00 for the supersize picture pack only to show 6 shots of a box is an idiot.

General Services Administration auctioned off a boatload of Morgans that had been stashed in the vaults for something like 80 years. GSAGUY is the expert on that and can fill in some details.

  • Were those sales in addition to original distribution? If that were the case someone may have thought they had a rare item and all of a sudden .......

It will contain a 1884-CC, like every one I have bought (hey GSA Guy, got any more!!!).
It is not exactly cheating, I prefer to consider it creative problem solving!!!

If I was that seller, I'd contact that buyer who threw a bid in at $400, and pounce!!
Some may find these items intriguing, they're worth $100 of intrigue to me. That's me though.
The gambling types may be willing to go a bit further with their money.
I wonder what the odds are to make a decent score with one of these?

My goodness $650 BIN. What does he think WE think is going to be in there? Surely not the one each 1889, 1892, 1893.

Has anyone ever researched the number of GSA CC dollars known versus the number slabbed for the GSA sales? In other words, have the three coins I mentioned, for example, been accounted for

    Gilbert,

Of the three dates that you mentioned, "one each of the 1889-CC, 1892-CC, and 1893-CC", I believe that 2 of the 3 dates have been accounted for in GSA holders.

I've seen photos of one and have examined the other.

gsaguy,i read about a Seated dollar being sent out by GSA in the "CC" holder...i read this some time long ago and have since forgotten the details...as i recall, the lucky finder of the Seated dollar in the GSA holder described it as being very lustrous, close to uncirculated...i should have saved the story...if this story is true, the owner of the GSA encapsulated Seated dollar hopefully had the good sense to leave it in its holder...

$400 buys one KNOWN TO BE REALLY NICE high-grade GSA dollar in a presentation box?

    Mr1874,

The GSA Seated Liberty that I pictured is, of course, in one of the GSA softpacks.

I've never heard any stories of a SL $ in a CC hardpack but then, nothing would surprise me. I've got an 1890-S and an 1884-P both in GSA CC hardpacks!

If you find the story, I'd love a copy of it. I'd gladly include the story in my book.

    Thanks!
