If you read you'll notice it is a "Delaware" Mercury. That's what makes it so rare!

It is near mint in one sense. The seller is in NY and the Philly mint is just a few hundred miles away...

WOW! With acute grading skills such as his, I'm surprised he wasn't picked up by ACG!image
  • Whenever I see an auction like this, I like to see what else the seller has up for the bidders delight. In this instance I was a bit disappointed, but usually it's a gold mine of laughs.

The D is for Delaware huh? I always thought it stood for Detroit. image

Actually, the "D" stands for "Dimitrius", the engraver of the Merc image
  • Every once in a great while I like to bait a seller like this and
email him and get his hopes up like I am naive. They deserve it.

I remember when an out of town stock broker kept calling me
in the evenings bugging me to send him $5K so he could invest
for me and make me millions. No matter what I said he wouldn't
take no for an answer. I told him I don't even know you and he
responded "I don't know you either". That was a sales tactic I
guess to comfort me. So I played along and told him I would have
to ask my wife if it was ok to send the money to him but she was
out shopping. He called back early the next evening. I told him
she said no. He asked me who wore the pants in the family. I
told him she does. He cussed me out and hung up on me. Thank
goodness. Just like this eBay seller he deserved it.

Well, at least he's lowered the price to a bargain-basement $100!
