The Pushkin (PGS) 1897 IHC slab

Dog97Dog97 Posts: 7,874 ✭✭✭
Pretty neat. The same size as an ANACS slab, fits in my Eagle Album. Properly graded too.
Thanks Pushkin! image
Change that we can believe in is that change which is 90% silver.

You will have to talk to Pushkin image I haven't seen him on the threads for a few days, but he's the guy with the Major League Maine Coon Cat! image

I also got a nice PGS 1907 IHC graded AU-55. This coin would go at least an MS-65 in a ACG slab image

  • I wonder if Conder has these slabs noted image

  • Dog, you got the rare, mislabeled PGS slab. VG-8 right, not G-8. Sell it on Ebay for a cool million.
  • Yes PGS is listed, in the Miscellaneous section. image

--- Yes, we failed miserably on that slab. You know how it is, grading thousands of IHCs a day, trying to run a huge multinational corporation, paying lobbyists hundreds of thousands of dollars a year to buy political favors, we sometimes mess up - Krispy Cream donut crumbs, pieces of cat furballs, fruit fly wings ... in the slabs, paw prints on the coins; well, mistakes happen. All mis-labeled slabs are replaced for free (if you want the coin back too, that's $10 --- just kidding (about the $10) ).image

Dog97 - thanks for the post. image

That grading service seems to be carving out quite a niche!image

They should be the exact material that ANACS uses. I can't guarantee that they are "cat hair" free, however!image

The EXTREMELY RARE and highly sought after "Missing V" error will probably go down in the pages of numismatic history - Dog, you might want to put that slab in a special "high security" safe.image

Pretty nifty slabs, one thing I noticed though, there is no serial number on the slab... how will the online cert. verification work??

At this point PGS only grades Indian Head cents and Flying Eagle cents that would grade MS-64 RD or lower. Any higher graded coins are returned (with the grading fee refunded), and a recommendation that the coin be submitted to PCGS or NGC (sometimes ANACS if the coin is a variety).

Because PGS charges a very low fee; on-line certification, Registry Sets, etc. are not curently available. However, PGS may add bar codes in the near future if there is sufficient demand. PGS's main purpose is to provide accurate grading, a simple but attractive slab, a low price, fast turn around (usually 3 business days) and customer service superior to any found anywhere else in the entire universe and beyond. image

At PGS we care about the "average" collector that wants nice, lower priced Indian Head and Flying Eagle cents that are accurately graded - we have no desire to compete with the large grading services - rather PGS offers an alternate to the high fees faced by collectors who focus on F, VF, XF and AU coins, and those who collect just for fun image but still desire an attractive holder for their coins.

PGS will never slab a DEATH COIN!

PGS coins carry a "fingerprint-free" guarantee - but no guarantee against "paw-prints".

Any cookie crumbs found in PGS slabs will only be high quality Entenmanns or Mom's home baked.
