On the show "The Simpsons" there is a mostly unlikable little bully named Nelson Muntz.
He laughs and takes obvious pleasure in the misfortunes of others. Drederick Tatum is the
heavy weight boxing champ. In one episode the heroine discovers and collects the chemical
which induces bullies to attack others. As a demonstration it is applied to Tatum and the
Muntz boy finds himself incapable of resisting the compulsion to strike the champ.
Certainly moderns are the Drederick Tatums of the coin market and they are percieved by
some to have the stink of failure about them. In point of fact, however, they will merely
end up assailing a larger and larger champ.

Actually they are the Hans Moleman of the coin market, they are currently on a date with Selma and after reality hits (you see the little ones running around bumping into each other) they will eventually be left by the side of the road just like Hans was (in front of the wrong house).

segment of the market for a couple years that there is no gaurantee that it will remain that way? We know.
Or maybe that just because there are hundreds of thousands of people collecting coins from circulation it is
not a certainty that they will progress to ever upgrade their collections what with the institutionalized modern
slamming that is likely to continue indefinitely? We know this too.
But we also know that if the hobby is to survive many of these newbies will go on to upgrade and expand their
collections. Indeed it is the only way the hobby can survive and we are betting on the future.
What are you doing? What are these terrible realities to which we are to awaken?
Being left "holding the bag" is one of the biggest ones. This doesn't apply to moderns only, but also to ANY overpriced coin. Some of us remember the Morgan busts of 1981 and 1989.

be hurt worse than others and my personal exposure is not inconsequential. But my primary
loss would be many hundreds of hours of work and effort. I've had so much fun, learned so
much, and met enough great people that I couldn't say my time and effort were wasted though.
