What Are Everyone's Plans for Registry Set Pursuits?

In an effort to start a positive registry set thread...

What's everyone working on right now? What do you hope to finish or make good progress on? Any sideline activities for when you can't find coins for your primary set?

For me, my main interest lately is the 1792-1964 Copper/Nickel/Silver Set. I'm 46% complete with a 61+ average grade. Al the nickels are complete, and I only lack the FE cent to have small cents done. The 20th century coins in the set are also complete. Trying hard to find affordable/attractive bust & seated coins in the high AU grades. Progress is slow, with most coins running several hundred dollars.

One side activity is the serach for a nice MS64FH Type 2 (raised date) SLQ to complete my 20th Century with Varieties CS set. I've looked long and hard for a nice example. Still sitting at 98% complete with this coin missing.

Also on the side, I've been building a set of PR Washingtons (1936 to 1964). I'm short most of the early dates. The first couple are pretty pricey for me. Later dates are mostly 67CAM or better. I haven't registered these yet.

i just finished a 1965-1998 proof quarter set...i may wander into the 1932-1964 series.i also have proof sets 1952 to present ,that i,m slowly slabbing.i have some morgans but not sure i,m ready to tackle that monster yet

The ONLY set I have completed is an 1938 Proof set.
I will continue to try to add more to my mercury dime set, maybe some day off in the distance futher I may even complete it need to hitthe lotto first.

Still trying to complete the Merc Set with no end in sight for this. Did try putting a Type Set together for the Registry but found this took total interest, and money, away from the Merc pursuit. This was bagged and sold off. Have acquired a few Seated Dimes in XF/AU and may just go with these after the Mercs are completed. Another thought is maybe to get back into the Type coins again, but only after the Mercs are completed.

My Mercs are complete, but will upgrade here and there.
My Barbers are complete but not all slabbed yet, and are not registered yet.
Need 1 seated...1872-CC, most of these are raw and not registered yet.
Need 1 Bust...1802, this set is registered, but most are raw.

It's going to take some time and money to get all of these in slabs so they can be registerd.

As a side, I'm starting Walkers. Have about 15-20.

Would like to do the full type set, but am streched pretty thin doing the above stuff. Oh, and I would like to do the Bust halves, just by date, not all the varities. Heck, I just like coins.

I spent my last buck on a proof coin for my complete type set. So I'm stopped for a while.

Then I bid on some land. I couldn't afford to offer the full price so I probably won't get it. But if I do I will need to sell most everything

So it looks like nobody need worry that I will pass them up for a while...

I am still working on the Franklin set, this one needs tons of upgrades. I need to resume working on the Roosies, and may have to start teaching the Mercury heads how Lucy builds a set.

I am working on the PCGS Morgans (12 of 97 coins) and I have a ways to go. I am trying to get some of the semi-keys right there.

& a casual interest in an NGC 20th century MS type set where I have 4 or 5 coins there.

& I pretty well spent my money for coins for this year, so won't be doing much for a while.

I've got a while to figure out what I'm going to do, it'll take me another couple of years to finish my current project.

I am not really interested in registering my sets as of yet but,

I was working on a 1792-1964 Copper/Nickel/Silver Type Set but after buying a type 1 & 2 SLQ I found my attraction to them was to strong to ignore.

I have sold most of my pre 1900 type coins except for the nickels which I had completed. I like them to much and excluding the with Shield W/rays (MS64) all are MS66 or better gems.

Now I am looking to finish the 20th Century type and have started a Standing Liberty Quarter series.

But those SLQ's are pricey and I may drop the 20th Century Type to help support that addiction.

I'm in sort of a desultory phase, of upgrading the Lincoln wheat MS set and Three Cent Nickel proof set when I can afford it (those times are getting fewer and fewer as we go!) Am adding a Washington to the MS silver set here and there, and have pretty much let the Franklin MS set lay fallow. I am trying to get my Platinum MS set up to 69s.

I'm just a beginner working on my CS Mercury dime set, and I have a long way to go. Thinking past this is like trying to look 10 years into the future! Given a big, no huge raise, I am torn. Either continue the dime thing going backwards to Barbers and Seated, or MS walking liberty halves, or maybe a MS 20th century type set. I have a raw low MS Franklin set, but almost nothing in it worth slabbing. Other than that, just a few raw coins I have bought over the years that I like.

My clad Washington set (1965-1998) is now 100% complete and although not updated it will put me at #3 (66.41 rating) and always looking for upgrades.

My silver Washington series (1932-1964) is 6 coins shy of being complete. All coins are MS66 or higher at all but 2 are white. However, with the 32D still to go.. it could be awhile. Hopefully I will finish by next summer, when ANA rolls around. In the meantime, I am continually looking for upgrades to MS67 for any coins which could meet my criteria. I should end up somewhere in the top 10 and hopefully higher when i finish.

It s a challenging series and well worth the challenge. Three years and counting and not a day goes by without more enthusiasm.

I think that you should put together a set of proof Barber quarters. It would be really nice to have someone to talk to about collecting the series. It is very lonely being the only one doing this, I need some company.

Besides, the quarters are being neglected, everyone either puts together the dimes or halfs.

As for my pursuits, I'm working on 2 Type sets, and a Three Cent Silver set. Althought, they may all take a back seat to a PR Liberty Nickel set. I currently have 10 in PR67.

I tend not to work on one set too long. Proof Lib. Nickels are reemerging as one of my favorites again, so I may focus on them a while. Perhaps when the set gets to 50% or so, I'll list it.

Wow! It is amazing to see the stuff everyone has. I'm wondering if Typetone hasn't already won the lotto.
Anyway, as you can tell by by handle, I really love the Walkers and for the most part, that's all I can get my arms around. I currently have the short set Richard D. Graham collection and I'm really going to try and put together a perfect set. I suspect some of the pop one coins are not going to be seen in this decade, but maybe down the road. If anyone has any they would like to contribute to a labor of love, feel free to send them my way!!

I'm still working on completing my walker collection. Should take forever.

I have a mixed (PCGS, NGC, ANACS) merc collection that is complete from 1934-45
that I could work on if things get slow.

Probably just wait on nice walkers to show up. They're getting expensive so it's
OK that I just wait and save up for the next one.

It's neat to see what everyone is up to. We've got a wide variety going, so we are not all after the same coins (Well, except us type collectors... we compete with everyone at some point or another).

I've been ignoring my early commems for a while now. I'll start paying attention to them eventually.

I've kind of been taking it easy on my Lincolns. I pick up a common date here and there, but some of the earlier ones have jumped in price so much lately that it just blows me away. (A semi-common 1910-S in 65RD has gone from $350 to $550-$650 in the past few months!)

So now I've been paying attention to my long neglected Buffalos. I can't afford registry quality for all of them, but I still think some of them are bargains. I just bought a 17-D in 63, a 23-S in AU58, a 21-P in 63, and a 26-D in 63. There's a 34-D in 64 that I think I'm going to also get here very shortly.

Ive abandoned my quest for MS Silver Roosevelts, and have returned to my first love of proof silver Washingtons 1936-64. But this time, my "set" might not make the top five or even the top 20 -- this time the set will be consisting of rainbow toned proofs only.

I made my first two acquisitions on eBay this weekend (bidder ID MoneyLA if anyone cares to check out my wins and to comment?)

I've decided this is what I want: colorful proof silver Washingtons.

It wont make the top five -- nor will it ever be #1 as my original set once was, but I think it will be rare and eye-catching.

By the way, the MS Roosevelts will be on eBay soon.
