Hit with computer virus. Temporarily limited on access...

For at least the next day, possibly longer, my internet access will be limited to during daylight hours only. Generally between 8:30 AM and 4:30 PM eastern time (when I'm at work). We have had a MAJOR computer virus infestation at home. It wiped out our DSL connection among other things. image My husband is working on rebuilding the system, but it may take a day or so. He said we were/are really hosed up. image Over 400 files infected that could not be cleaned. image

Anyway, if anybody sends me a PM or posts something they need a response from me on, don't be alarmed if I am slow getting back to you. Just waiting on the computer to get over it's virus.

    at this point, not sure where it came from. Hubby is still working on it (well, he will be after he gets home from work later on)

    Do you have a firewall? If not I recommend one. And a good virus program. I recommend McAfee VirusScan. Comes with a firewall.

    Glad to hear that you didn't lose any important stuff on the PC. That is the danger of DSL with its constant connection to the Internet. Hackers can find your IP address much easier. It is good precaution to use a firewall and virus protection software that was mentioned earlier. Zone Alarm and Black Ice Defender offer very good firewall protection. They block hackers from trying to access your computer ports. McAfee also has a firewall but I prefer the one from Zone Alarm. Glad that you are back online again.
