ARGH! eBay just cost me a bunch of $ tonight!

It makes me mad.
<flame>AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!</flame>

I had 20 auctions ending after 10/7 ET/PT tonight. eBay ended them all based on time elapsed, and not clock time, because they ended shortly after 9 ET!

The best bidders for my particular sales tend to come out after 10, and there was a seriously notable difference in the prices realized for several of my coins. I think it looks like more than $50 that I missed on these.

RRRRRRRRRRRR!

  • ursabear,

Are you ursabear on eBay, too? If so, you lost a couple of bucks because I screwed up a snipe... sorry for both of us. image

I know, I know. It happens to me twice a year. Each time, I swear to myself that I'll pay attention next time and adjust the start time accordingly. But, I always forget.

  • Bear, Will do. Probably going to feel sorry for the Salmon, though... image
Clark, would have loved to have you snipe on one of mine. Next time? There are a bunch more going up this evening.
    Wayne, Thanks for the comisseration!

Thanks to all for their thoughts and letting me vent.

I'll be a better Bear, now.
  • P.S. I love my Silver Kennedys. I don't like giving them away, though. I'm glad for the buyer. He/she got a phenominal deal.

Essentially, they consider a day 24-hours. So, for a 7-day listing you get 168 hours. If they ended it at the same time it started you'd get a 169 hour auction. Why, I don't know but there would be an hour there with NO auction ending if they didn't do it this way.

Ursabear--it looks like it cost you a few $$ in another way too--I see you were a successful bidder on some of my auctions.

    Bear,

Sometimes the competition can be a little stiff for that salmon!image

  • Thanks, all. You're great guys.

Russ, LOL. I needed cheering up. image
  • Hi Ursabear.

I am torn on how to feel. I feel for you for not getting what you had hoped for.. but then I like that I was one of the lucky winners (snagged your Ike). Tell me you don't resent selling it to
me or it will hang a cloud over my enjoyment of the coin.

  • Kris,

I have absolutely no resentment or hard feelings abut it at all! I'm glad you got such a nice deal on a nice Ike like that!

I'm just grumpy at eBay about it. I gave away (relative to price) the Ike (cool for you! I'm glad it went to a board member!) my 02 Kennedy, one of my Sacs, and a few others, to boot.

I am very glad you participated in one of my auctions! Thank you very much.
