I've been looking for a really perfect 70DCAM Kennedy for over a year with no success. Bought and sent back plenty because they all had flaws of some sort. This is probably my chance to get a perfect one. But, I'm not sure I want to pay the asking price. Just don't think they are a good longer term play, at those levels. Not knocking David Lawrence. They are just pricing at the market. I just think the market is too high.

    PM sent.
    Thanks,

  • Greg,

You are right-on for there are no pr 70's left that meet the grade that I have found(14 months looking &

returning)...But, if there was, the price would be to high compared to value you would receive on 1900 coin.

In looking for a couple of years I've only found one that I would actually call PR70DCAM from PCGS. I just won 2 from an auction and I'll probably be returning both of those as well. If I was hard up, I'd probably keep them, i.e. buy the plastic. But I love my Kennedies too much for that. What's the deal with returning them to PCGS for a regrade? Do you have to send them an invoice showing them what you paid for the coin or do they go by the "market price" when they find out it's actually a PR68 or 69 DCAM? If we all sent back the "bad" ones I bet there would be only 25% or less than what's actually showing up in the PCGS pop reports.image

    Greg,

I've now viewed a couple dozen in person, and have yet to see one that was truly perfect. Some had glaring problems such as haze or spotting that would make them an instant candidate for grade guarantee review. Which, of course, explains why Rick Montgomery flatly refused to answer my question on this issue when I posted it in the Q&A forum.

My hunch is that the few PR70DCAMs that truly make the grade are staying in the registry sets where they reside, and just the undesirables are coming to market.
