A lot of times toning will come after the finger prints have already resided on the coin. If you look closely, you'll see that the print area has not toned, that could mean that the coin was handled long ago before it started toning, and those areas where the oils were most pronounced didn't tone.
(The colors ain't unattractive- too bad the fingerprint kills 'em. Still, properly curated, I'm sure that's a nice coin. The reverse die cracks hughesm1 pointed out are rather interesting. I would have missed them.)
I have to say that toning is 100% original. I have an 1880-S I'll scan with the same problem that is 100% no question anybody can tell it's original toning. It'll be when I get home tonight. Yes, I'm reading this at work when I should be doing other things.
Definitely a fingerprint on a natural end of roll toned coin, it appears there was little to no paper covering that area and someone who picked up the roll of dollars touched that spot possibly with their thumb.
I wouldn't call that a toned coin I would call it a fingerprinted coin. yucky yucky nasty ps dip won't help it because if you dipped it you would see white print lines more clearly than you do now.
Change that we can believe in is that change which is 90% silver.
Placid- if PCGS slabbed it at 65 with a fingerprint that toning must be no question original. I take back my previous comment . I have not had good luck with getting good grades with coins with fingerprints although personally fingerprints on classic coins don't really bother me on nice looking coins like yours. mike

I'd say outhaul has a pretty close match.
Edit: perhaps the very fact that the toning would be disturbed by the fingerprint like that might mean it's AT. Dip it.

I still say it's ugly. DIP! DIP! DIP!
