Invoice surfing

Okay, I have a confession to make. I am an invoice surfer. When I get bored becuase there are no new post on here, and nothing new is up on Ebay to look at, I sumtimes hope over to the submission results and type in random numbers to see submission results.
It all started one time when I went out of town and forgot my invoice number. So I started hitting numbers untill I found mine (took to nights to find mine!) and I got hooked on seeing what others were sending in, the grades they were recieving, number of body bags (TONS!) that sort of thing. Now this was almost a year ago, and since then every once in awhile I check out submissions. Today for the first time, I wondered if it was umm, ethical isn't the right term.... moral I guess you could say. After all, these are someone elses submissions my angel would say. But you don't know WHO they are so it's okay, my devil says. So now I put it out in the open and admit it. What do you think? Wrong? Okay? Never tried it?

They'll be in the pop reports eventually, so it is OK.

  • I am always traveling and forget to bring my invoice numbers, so I surf frequently looking for my own submissions. I wish PCGS would offer a list of my numbers when I login.

I dont see a problem with it. But if people did, I guess PCGS can set up a password protected login. Shouldnt be that hard to figure out.

I may not understand the process you are using but ....
Do you get names of submitters in this fashion?
If so you have private information that the submitter may not want known to others.
There may be security issues in addition to privacy issues.
If info comes without attached identification then not a problem in my mind.

Did you notice the increase in business strike copper/nickel clad Roosevelt dime submissions after the thread on the 84-D Roosevelt in PCGS 68 that sold for $700+? Yes, I admit it, I surf invoice numbers.image
